When I got the Germino it had 2 55hz webers, 1 duane allman altec lansig copy by weber (which I have seen very few of) and 1 celestion vintage 30. I almost immediately put in 4 wgs green berets. Not 100% sure I made the right decision there...I'm using the cab live tonight for the first time. Hopefully it shines Minus the second input, themadhatter's pro-mod is identical to mine...also, mine is currently running Sino EL-34B's

Excellent, you guys have almost identical PM's! Angusdeadking, that Germino cab looks sweets! What speakers are in it? madhatter, which pedals are on top of the amp? I even have a Gibson Gothic Flying V!! I'd say Angusdeadking has good taste:) ;D The two pedals are a Scream Cheese Overdrive and an MXR Noise Clamp. Both are great pedals. You can't get a better gate for the $80 that the Noise Clamp cost! Rock on!

The scream cheese pedals are made around these parts right? (i'm in concord btw) I have seen several of them and always heard fairly good things about them as well as their other products. I have the gothic SG and 135 as well

Very nice overall! If you ever wanna part with the SG...give me a shout!

They sounded really good but made the feel a little stiff. Really though, I find power tubes make very little difference unless they are just microphonic or defective. I'll be interesting to hear what difference in tone you think the KT88's make on your amp. I am thinking at the next tube change I will try a set of EL34's in there b/c it was so easy to change the resistor and EL34's are a lot cheaper! I'm thinking I need to tame the bass a little too. I can't get past 10:00 with my 4x12!

Unfortunately I thought the Tung Sol 6550 sounded the best in there but they can’t handle that amp. I stick with KT88’s just to play it safe now these days. I actually changed the resistor because I got a set of really low rated KT88’s so now I am thinking if I get a set of high rated EL34’s I can bias them up w/o changing the resistor. I always read about people running their bass at like 2:00 on their QR’s so I figure it must be an EL34 thing because I could NEVER run mine that high. Anything over 12:00 and I’m drowning out the bass player. ;D

I've got Electro Harmonix KT88's in my PM. I'm sure something would sound better but these are fine with me...

I used to run my bass at noon..now I've been kicking it down to like 10:00 actually
what do you mean they 'couldn't handle' the amp? lol..the plate voltage shouldn't be much more than your average old ass marshall, pushing 500 or so...
