I find low wattage usually means different sound due to tiny power tubes. The QR with 4 EL34's wouldn't sound the same with a pair of EL84's, etc.
That said, the Fargen low watt amps seem to sound pretty damned nice on his website!

Hey Drew-
Did you try a 25k pot similar to the ones in the EB volume pedals? Maybe the taper would be less severe after 9:00 on the dial? I'm heading to Radio Shack tomorrow to pick up the jacks and pot to wire myself one of your devices! I'll go with a 10k unless I hear otherwise. Also, is the wiring schematic on page 8 the one you used?
Thanks!

I just got my Omnisonic off Ebay and it works great. I'm running my QR on 50 watts with the Omnisonic since most of my practice time is late at night. Works with my Crate and Marshall heads great too. I don't care whats inside. It works. BTW they are all the same he just puts the different brand names on there for search purposes. The one I bought happened to be listed for a Fender Blues Deville.

I just built one from parts from radioshack. cost about $10. Used a 25k pot and so far it works great with just the amp. Ill try some fx tomorrow.

Works even better than i thought it would. Pretty much preserves the tone at a much lower volume. I tried a treble bleed cap on it and it made it way too harsh. Clips must be made now...

I know this is an old topic but I though I would chime in here . I also use an alligator and it works great ;D . If people are having trouble or not liking the tone with something in the loop I would suggest trying the alligator

Did anyone else notice a big loss of treble when backing up the pedal on the little alligator?

My treble is on 0 as well, but I used my alligator on my fender concert clean amp today and the sound was very bassy when I lowered the volume on the pedal compared to when I lowered it on the guitar volume knob.

hey Splatter -
Would you mind Editing your Post #2 to add that it looks like the pots rated for 25k work best in the volume pedals. The Ernie Ball VP JR pedal actually says 25k by the insert jack, where the 250k version it just says 'Volume Pedal' I think.
Cheers. I think that would be cool if you did. That would help put some answers up at the top of the thread.
That reminds me. Does anyone know how to start a thread in here? Vom said he wouldn't mind but I have not seen him in a while.

Thanks TJ.
Yeah, I know how to start a thread - but in this FAQ section for some reason that 'New Thread / New Poll' option is not there (for me). Do you see it in the FAQ sub-forum?
I wanted to stick my Biasing thread in here and Vom (Jimmy) said that would be cool but I can't figure out how to do it. I've sent him a PM some time back but I see that he has not been on in a while. Personally, I think it would be a great idea to have a catch all thread in FAQ with technical information that gets asked a lot - and I'd be happy to create/contribute.
Cheers

I have tried this trick on my competition and wasn't really digging it. I feel like the amp looses alot saturation this way. I tried it with a morley volume pedal in the effects loop. id rather keep it at low volume with the solo level at 3 oclock.
