I don't think that there is anything wrong with Eric Johnson. It was more where he was playing than what he was playing. You can think what you want about kids but they are going to do what they see. I started drinking when I was 12 years old and was an alcoholic before I graduated from high school. My Dad wasn't really an alcoholic but he drank a beer or two most days. I figured if Dad did it, it must be OK. So if I can do it in a few years when I'm legal, why wait? I have battled alcohol from my teens until I God took the desire away. I haven't drank a drop in over five years now. I don't want my kids to go through what I put myself (and them) though. I was never a mean drunk, never missed work, got into fights, or got into any trouble with the law. I just had to drink. I'm not saying that it's a problem for everyone, just that it was for me. If you never drink, you will never have the problems associated with it. ok, I didn't understand about the where's and why's of eric johnson..thanks for clearing it up! didn't know about your back history...so that explains why you're doing what you're doing...nothing wrong with handling it the way you are...just offering a different perspective..my point of view, kinda thing...=) Thanks Shreder. I'm not asking everyone to necessarily agree with me, just to try to understand.

What's filthy about an Eric Johnson show? Not too sure I follow that one =) as far as the drinking thing goes....having a beer (which is a legal privelege of age) and getting sloppy drunk are two different things =) kids are savvy these days...as long as you explain to them why you're doing it (and once again, NOT in excess in front of them) and why they can't, I don't think that they're neccisarily going to say ooh, he's got beer..let me have one! I think doing something like that and talking to them about it rather than abstaining or sneaking it is a much better alternative... If you never drink, you will never have the problems associated with it. Dude, that SUCKS. I'm sorry to hear that. But it explains alot. I have known people who have battled with alchohol and its a terrible thing. I consider myself extremely fortunate that I've never had this problem. I go days and weeks without drinking and then will do it at a gig or bar but thats it. I like a Corona or 4 out by the pool, but thats about it. I could never imagine having to deal with alchoholism. Looking at it from my side though, you can see why I don't think its a bad thing having never experienced a negative effect of it. Not even a hangover,, LOL.

Don't feel bad for me at all. I brought it all on myself. I didn't loose my wife, or my job, hurt anyone physically, or get into any trouble with the law so God spared me from what I really deserved. They say once you are an alcoholic that even if you quit, you are still an alcoholic. In my case that's not true. Those people still battle the addiction everyday. I don't. God took the desire to drink away when I got saved. I had no idea that would happen, but it did. I tried to quit for years but I knew that I would never be able to. That's how I know that something real happened to me when I got saved. God will conquer things for you that you can't conquer on your own. Now, I have the chance to help other people who have the same problem that I use to have. You have to move forward and take those experiences whether good or bad and try to help someone with them. People seem to respond better when they know you've been down the same road and made it to the other side. I even had a beer on a couple of occasions since I've been saved 12 years ago and didn't have a problem drinking one and walking away. I'm cured!
