By the way, I will definately listen to you guys, and buy the closed back. I just need to decide on the regular, or oversized??? I want the most bottom end, or fullest sound I can get. Also, the closest 4-12 tone, I can get out of a 2-12 cab.

if it doesn't say 'Splawn' on it, i ain't using it! lol Shred; Not knocking Scott's cabs but the AVATAR VINTAGE 212 kicks ass too and you get your choice of speakers. I love mine! $358.00 & You can't beat this deal. I'm getting ready to order the Vintage 4 X 12 they now offer. Something worth checking into as an alternative if you want to save a couple hundred bucks.
I have the regular sized 2x12..he wasn't making oversized or open back cabs at the time..but I woulda stuck with the traditional sized closed back anyway I had celestion CL80s in there..hated them....they sounded great in my buddy's THD cab, but cruddy in mine..so I replaced it with weber 1265s and it sounds great!! very big sounding
Hey shredder, and craig, I bet I could order an extra splawn emblem, and put it on the front of a tired old fender, and the gain and tone would just raise right up. Kinda like them copper brac elets, for your healh, that you wear on your wrists huh!!!!!! Or better yet, I think that I need to buy some emblems, and put them on necklace chains, so kids can wear them, like a fashion statement. Or maybe dis here booze, I be samplin, should be bottled in an adult proof container. HA!HA! LOL>

I've always just wondered how they can sell them so cheap, that's all...never heard one...but I know my splawn cabs work most of the time I get into gear or sound trouble is when I experiement or go away from what I know works.....if it ain't broke, don't fix it.... I experimented with pickups...I always come back to the JB..so I coulda saved some money right there... I tried other brands of guitars..I always come back to ESPs..coulda saved myself ALOT of money right there... I experimented with modelers..always come back to tube amps... I experimented with different tubes in my QR and always go back to how scott intended it to be....coulda saved time and money there =) that's just how I am...

That's cool! I hear what you are saying. I think dimensionally you will find that Scott's over sized cab is almost the same size as the Avatar if not the same. Birch ply, speakers of your choice etc... Everything Scott makes is Excellent and no one can take that away from him. hahaha Like I said, I'm not knocking Scott product! been meaning to ask..what's the advantage of an oversized 2x12? they're not much smaller than a 4x12 That's cool! I hear what you are saying. hey fretburner, i too have been checking out the avatar stuff i thought it was a misprint when i looked at the price for a loaded 4x12!! $478+$78 for shipping?? i thought these things have to be really crappy but i looked on harmony central and they all gave great reviews of their cabs and actually a friend of mine got to check one out a while back (one of the guitarists in a band his wife was singing in at the time had one and he loved it!! great build quality, great sound and projection) i am going to go that route when i get my next cab, now if i can only get rid of this damn mesa cab already!! the guy recommended a g12h and v30 x pattern for me, he said he has been doing a lot of this combo and he really likes the results.

Hey Shredder, I talked to Josh today at Splawn. I basically told him, we thought, as we have posted, that sticking with the Splawn products, is the politically, and tonally correct thing. He says, definately cool. I think thay try hard enough, to please our request's, that the little push, in their direction, is far smaller than, the pull, that we produce. I have talked to, the owners of several product lines lately, and with the exception of, the guy at SOUTHBAY AMPS, who sells, scumback speakers, no one cares. I mean none of them. Guy at Southbay amps, was decent, like the guys at splawn. Them speakers, just cost alot, and the wait is long. What's up with this, new splawn shirt deal?? Are they free, or, do you have to buy them?? do you know???

Sorry to intervene, but brian those avatar cabs are a joke. They look and sound like they're made out of pizza boxes. Don't forget too, 99.999% of the people on HC are hacks.
