I had gone through the site. There was recently and article in the Telegraph that I found, which stated that "modern rockers can't make great guitar riffs". going o to say that when it comes rock classics seems they just don't make them like they used to. This was drawn from the result of a poll taken by students of music schools. As from many songs only 25 were the best ones. Could you please provide some more attachment links regarding the topic DVD DuplicationDVD Printing

Sorry,
a "guitar hero" has to make mag covers and make kids wanna play/buy a guitar. Regardless of actual ability. I have no doubt there are plenty of folks who said "Eddie Van Halen sucks", even if they don't post here! lol
Your current crop includes;
Kurt Cobain Dimebag Darrel (RIP) Zakk Wylde Matt Heafy Jeff Loomis Billie Joe Armstrong Dan Donegan Jerry Cantrell Slash
Perhaps some of these dudes are on their way out by now, it is hard to keep up. A lot of our faves still carry the torch for kids today (Page, Hendrix, Rhoads, Vai, Satriani). I get hit up to teach the coworker's kids to play guitar over Taylor Swift and Hannah Montana, but it's not quite the same thing.
Have fun!
Later!

This is an OLD and funny thread! LOL.. but seriously..isnt it funny that even your "updated" list contains a guy who has been dead 18 years, a guy dead 10 years, the rest 40-something guys who did their best work 20 years ago... and 1 younger guy (Heafy) who plays in a band with a guy who is twice as good as he is (Cory Beaulieu)..
Loomis,, who is also over 40 I would consider a newer hero because he got a later start and recognition later..
but really.. after 6 years.. nobody in this thread can come up with a legitimate NEW guitar hero.
sad...

Presumably someone mentioned Guthrie at some point. So. Problem solved. Now let's look at this national debt issue.

He's not "new" though is he. In the 80s Ibanez catalogs and everything.

He's the second guy I've seen lately with a Suhr who can play it. Times is changin'. ;D
I think there are hundreds of new guitar gods. They're confined to YouTube because there's no record market for them. Doesn't take many clicks to find some unknown who will scare the hell out of you.
