I owned my nitro for 1 day and knew the tone wasn't for me. it sounded nothing like the Nitro clips. I sold the amp to someone else who listed to the clips and wanted that tone. He sold the amp the next day as well. The amp had good tone, just nothing like it was advertised. Tough pill to swallow when each one is considered a 'custom order" so you are buying on blind faith. Thank goodness I sold it while hype on the amp has been high. Sorry to say but I was very underwhelmed by the Nitro. Maybe I got a bad one?

"I had the amp for one day" Oh my Lord. If you think you got a bad amp (which I find highly highly unlikely) then call Scott Splawn. He'll talk to you about it. He'll help you tweak it to your liking. In that one day did you get to take it out and gig with it? Probably not. Did your friend get to take it out and gig with it? Probably not You had the amp for one day........................BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I played the Nitro. That amp is absolutely killer!!! The saturation of that amp makes it so easy to play. Sounds great at bedroom volumes and AMAZING at gigging volumes. He had the amp for one day............and his friend too.......BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

and why wouldnt it sound the same,it should tone wise and i even expect better, with using my guitars, diff pickups ,basson cabs, ooooooo im cant wait,my zemaitis longs for the day. high hopes for it, i also like the clips from windsen, i really dont believe you can evaluate a head in a day. it takes time, and its gotta break in, and which cabs are you using that has a lot to do with it,i dont like my jvm thru marshall cabs too thin and high piercing, but thru basson its totally warmer and balanced.ive had my herbert for over 2 yrs and still coming up with new tones.i believe the NITRO will deliver the goods, ill know soon feb/mar its due.

I'm using a Diamond Cab that has 2 Celestion- V30's and 2 G12H's. The tone of the Nitro just wasn't for me. I just got a Rivera Knucklehead Tre and I was able to dial in the tone I wanted within 10 minutes after turning it on. There is a reason the Nitros are turning up on the used market already. Many folks like them and that's good for them. It just wasn't for me. The other guy who played my amp for a day wan't my friend. He was the guy I sold it to. He was nice enough to let me know that the character of the amp wasn't for him either. I thought maybe I was crazy, but since I have found the tone I was looking for I am putting this experience behind me.

I'm just curious because I think for rock/metal tone you can't beat a Splawn amp. Just my opinion. Sure there are amps with more gain but THe Nitro is a Ganiac amp in my opinion. It oozes saturated gain like no other amp I've ever played. I've played the Rivera knucklehead and gigged with it and didn't really care for it at all. Too stiff and the overdrive sounded stale to me. Cleaned up ok when you backed off the volume but that was about the extent of my praises for that amp.

I was there and played the Nitro as well. It is an amazing sounding rock/metal amp that has the classic Splawn tone that we all rave about. I understand not everyone digs it but man, you gotta give it more than a day especially since Splawns are tighter and more articluate than any amp you are porbably used to. I hated my Pro Mod the first day I got it! I played the Knucklehead for about 2 years and gigged with it. It was a decent amp but too muddy with no articluation when the gain gets higher. The clean channel was awesome though.

I'll agree with giving the Nitro some time before you sell it off. I was almost guilty of a rush to judgement and selling it off while the hype is still strong. Hell, I started this thread and I wasn't to thrilled with the Nitro at first (same with the K-Tre I use to own - BTW). After spending time with it and learning how the knobs react differently from other amps (this is my first Splawn), I've grown to love this amp. I'll agree that not everyone likes every amp. To me this is a great amp, but, to me, certainly not the best I've ever played.

my first impression of the amp was like what the hell is going on with this thing.from what i have found from other owners is the amp has a unconventional type EQ so if you do what i did and dial it in with your eyes first will probably hate it.I haven't even played the amp since but there is know way I would get rid of it in a day.my next round with it is tomorrow nite and then friday.after that I am bringing all my gear home and then after some more tweaking at home I will give it a judgement.I have only owned one splawn amp prior and it was a QR and I didn't have that very long but the amp was just too bright for what I was doing but it was an awsome amp for everything else.most people who now own Nitro's are familiar with Splawn amps and know how the amps will react before hand so there is no learning curve and this is why thet are getting them to sound killer.IMO
