One Splawn dealer said that he had some of the same issue and basically said he turns the treble completely off. I have also come to find that v30s are probably a major part ofthe problem. I think you are trying to quote me as your Splawn dealer. I have never experienced piercing highs with any Splawn. What I said was I don't EQ it the way I eq my other amps. I do turn my Treble off on my Quickrod and feel it still has enough highs with it off. It doesn't have too much or harsh highs with the Treble at noon. What I said was that as you turn down the treble knob it seems to subtly effect the gain and does something cool to the lows of the amp while retaining enough treble for my sound. And yes, with V30's I would say almost anything could sound harsh. I absolutely HATE those speakers. I sold a Bogner Ecstasy 100B and a '67 Plexi and a '68 Plexi because they all had this irritating harshness in the high mids and this graininess that drove me nuts. I sold all those amps because I thought it was them. Then I put G12H30's in my cab and now it sounds killer. Too bad I can't buy back my '67 and '68 plexi's and my first generation Ecstasy but I don't have $10k laying around to replace them. Thank you very much Celestion V30's

^Sorry. My misunderstanding. I did try it with the trebel off/very low and I see what you are saying. I liked it much more that way. I still prefer it with the eq though. I will say that I have it sounding pretty killer now. So much so that I've had no urge to play my other amps. May be I should start a Nitro - 2 weeks later thread.
