Hey Don you got the V847 right? I think I'm gonna send mine to Keeley.. which mods you got and what did they improve? Honestly just true bypass and AC would be fine with me.. but considering other mods. Yep, I got this: I've had 2 Mellow Wahs - sold one when I went to 1 board (wish I had it), kept the other. Made a huge difference. Super flexible and huge tone improvement. Selectable sweeps, adjust the bass/wah character, volume/mid control. Plus the on/off light (funny how much I appreciate that) and I believe true-bypass. My remaining Mellow Wah was modded again by Keeley last year to remove the volume/mid control in lieu of a cap for the most used value/location/setting of the control. The airport inspection monkeys destroyed the mid/volume pot twice by slamming the ata lid down on the knob (2 trips in a row...so I had it removed). Anyway, great mod - worth the money. Nothing but love for the Keeley guys too!!! He does make it true bypass as well. Mine has been off my board because the input jack is screwed up and it needs a new weep pot. I have been debating whether I should just buy a new jack and fix it myself. I also have an extra Fulltone pot laying around so I can do it all myself. The other option is to send it back to Keeley because I might have him change one part of the mod. He keeps the stock inductor and adds a Fasel inductor that you can toggle between. I had the red Fasel installed but I don't like the way it sounds so I may have him put the yellow Fasel in for a different flavor and then fix the rest of the pedal. As stupid as it sounds, that blue light has saved me from leaving the wah on a number of times! I really wish the Bud Wah had one.

Yeah Keeley does in fact rule. I own a Keeley Baked mod Ts-9, modded DS-1 and a compressor. Just the best stuff.. Yep and he is a super cool guy, one of the nicest to work with, like Scott is.

Donald if I use only 1-2 pedals should I get a true bypass tuner or go with the buffered tu-2? Doesn't it suck tone?

Donald if I use only 1-2 pedals should I get a true bypass tuner or go with the buffered tu-2? Doesn't it suck tone? Well it depends on which 2 pedals you are running. If they are both true bypass, 2 pedals may not have much of an affect on your tone and you may not need a buffer. I think if one of those two pedals will be a tuner I would go for a true bypass one like the Peterson or Korg Pitchblack tuner. Buffers are needed for longer cable runs or to help a chain with tone-sucking pedals.

However I can hear a difference in tone even when going between one cable to amp, and cable-wah-cable-amp, but I guess a buffer could do more harm than good here?

Here's mine: media.roland.com/en/v/v0444/v044411M.movHAHAHAHAHAAAAA it sounds great with the vawhinalator. although 7 Arion Metal Master pedals strung together with telephone wire would sound good with that thing.

The Korg PB tuner is getting good reviews from a lot of people. What kind of wah are you using that is true bypass? I guess if you hear that much of a difference maybe a buffer would help. Keep in mind that you will never have 100% of the sound of plugging straight in when using pedals. It's the trade off for using effects but after a while of using pedals I don't even notice or care about that 3-5% of tone loss. With 2 pedals it should be even less to worry about. Only a poor buffer (i.e. cheaper ibanez/digitech pedals) will do harm. A good buffer will be beneficial in most cases. Another one to keep in mind is the Korg DT-10 tuner which is not true bypass but also has a good input buffer.

Just a quick question on the TU-2 stuff. If I add it to the end of my board, would it go before or after the NS-2? Any light would be sweet!

Try it after the NS-2, at the very end is where the buffer will have the most impact. I don't think you will have to worry about the tuner making noise. But in reality I would just ditch the NS-2 altogether! I don't know, maybe they work for some people but I don't like the idea of having my signal gated or suppressed digitally.

It's a good point, I'll switch them round and see what I get. my board is alreay starting to look a little confused anyway.

I don't doubt Dons word guys but seriously he is in the minority of pro players are play without a line-level regulator/tube buffer. I was so frustrated on how my cool pedals like a phase 90 or wah would kill my tone,, even just two pedals! even with true bypass and the best cables money can buy.. until I found the VHT Valvulator. Growing up in Cleveland there was a local guy there named Neil Zaza who is amazing and I was reading on his website about it and thats when I bought one.. heres his pedalboard and what he says: www.neilzaza.com/gear/gear.html"I wouldn’t run a pedalboard without a Valvulator. What this unit actually does is brings your guitar down from instrument to line level so that it can run through your pedals at optimum value. What this does is enables you to run through multiple pedals and not lose any signal or high-end tone. It also supplies an active splitter on board for multiple amps if need be as well as a power supply. If you could hear the difference between running your signal through a Valvulator or not, you would be racing up to your local music store to order one."
