not to play devil's advocate..but the difference is it seems like you're a musician for a living, where as DD has a career day gig type of thing... but I do think that a GF forbidding him to go is a bit much... You're totally right Shredder,point was to give Don some perspective. Yeah I'm sure since he has a day job and its only a part time gig,things are different. But lets say band B see's him at a gig, say's hey man we want you to play for us. Lets say things start to fall apart with band A so Don jumps ship. Then band B lucks out and gets signed to a major management company and wants to put them on tour for 2 months or wants to send them to the other coast for a set of showcases.Lets say the offer is so sweet Don could quit his day job to play music. How do you think the girl will react to that? Not every girl has what it takes to be away from their man.I'll surrender that. But I think when you cant leave her sight for a weekend, whether its work related or just to hang out with the guys...there's some real problems here. Just my two cents... thats all. |

Just my two cents... thats all. not sure how she'd react to that...you'd have to ask her..lol as far as being away from your man or woman or whatever..well I dunno...I guess I'm sorta of the mind that if you're gone more often than not then what's the friggin' point..lol.. now there's also the fact that it's not like he's going fishing for the weekend with some friends....he's driving nine hours south to another state with people he never even met (other than me..if I can make it that is) much less know her from adam...some people might have a bigger problem with that than anything....contrary to what WE think, some people think that talking and forming freindships with perfect anonymous strangers on the internet is odd and 'don't get it'..we don't think that way obviously, cause we're here...lol.... also, I think people are being a little over critical..going so far as to say that it's best to lie...that they've got problems when they really don't know DD or his g/f at all, that chicks are only there because they think they lose you, etc, etc....some of the outlooks on relationships is a little cromagnon in my eyes...LOL....AND, you're not DD, I'm not..nobody is..an none of your spouses, wives, 'life partners' are his g/f....so it's easy for anyone to show some of their manliness and say 'screw her, just go!!'....it's kind of a high schoolish way of thinking..to a point.... so, do I think it's too much? from one perspective, yes...but, do I kinda understand where she's comming from? yeah....do I think people should lay off of DD? definetly |

All I know is at the ampfest, me and GitFiddler had a friggin' blast and it was all anonymous forum people who never met ,, you put a bunch of people like us in a room and its gonna be fun regardless of arguments and shenanigans that go on here.

i haven't posted anything really concerning DD and his lady because only DD knows his real sitaution and only DD can do what's right for himself...if that means skipping the Con then that's fine...

All I know is at the ampfest, me and GitFiddler had a friggin' blast and it was all anonymous forum people who never met ,, you put a bunch of people like us in a room and its gonna be fun regardless of arguments and shenanigans that go on here. there's no denying that, dude =) I've done ampfests...in the same state, but I've done them..lol.... I'm just saying that some people may not get it..especially if they're on the outside looking in |

even though most of us have never met face to face i'm looking forward to hanging with all you guys down there and talking equipment/music/broads/(guys in TJ's case we don't want to discriminate)...etc...
i really think it's gonna be a blast...otherwise i wouldn't be driving down and back 14 hours each way ;D

Shred, that is so f'n funny about her being a saint. No matter where we go, to any sort of social function or whatever, within five minutes there will be a line of people lined up either asking her what she is doing with me or telling her she is a saint for putting up with me. Then I will chime in and say "You know why she's with me? The velvet buzzsaw!!!" and then I attempt to lick my eyebrows. That is usually the showstopper. I freely admit that I am a sexist, caveman pig. But that's part of my charm.
And let's be honest, women really don't want a soft, sensitive, caring man. There is no respect for that. Say your in a bar with your chick, and a big cro-mag like me or DC comes up and starts trying to impress her because he just discovered fire or something like that. Is your girl going to be more impressed the fact that you can throw-down and keep her safe if you have to, or is it more impressive that you got his and hers mani/pedis the day before?
They want a man to take charge and handle things. As I said earlier, men and women both have very specific rolls that they need to play for the relationship to work. Like that old saying..BEHIND every successful man is a good woman. ;D
