Metalhead, thank you for the kind words. I actually wrote a book a long time ago called "The Swordsman's Apprentice" all about how the devious female mind works, how to score as many chicks as possible, and how to overcome the various mindscrambles that they will throw at you daily. I will have to go into my storage space to try and find a copy. It was pretty friggin' good from what I remember. ;D

Also, if you knew she was so insecure, you never should have told her the truth, as harmless as it is, about where you are going. Any successful relationship needs to be based on lies, deception, and misdirection. Men and women are simply not meant to get along, so we need to make it work for us. I treat my trophy-wife one step up from the Taliban. She knows her role and I know mine, and that keeps our relationship strong. I tell guys that check her out right to their faces and in front of her.."You can have her, but the bills go with her". Even if you don't read the rest of motorcop's post, read that. That is one of the greatest things I have ever read PERIOD, let alone this forum! I agree and disagree with it. There does have to be a certain level of manipulation to get it to work because guys will never think like girls and vice versa but if you have to live a life of lies to make things work then maybe we need to start a thread about your guys realtionships.

Oh, how I long to once again experience the naivete and utopian joy of "young love".
Double D. There is always at least one person lying in any substantial relationship. If your not lying guess what....your the one being lied to!!! ;D
For instance. I had breakfast with my buddy Richie "The Barber" Beefcake this morning. He was telling me about a hot date he had saturday night. He takes the chick to a nice joint for dinner, but there were no tables available, so they sit at the bar and wait. When the chick goes to use the head, he tells the hostess the chick he is on the date with has cancer and she is weak and they could really use a table ASAP. The hostess of course seats them right away. The chick says "Wow Beefie, how did you get a table so quick?" He says "Don't worry babe. The owner owed me a favor, so I called him at home" You see where I am going? He is on a first date with this girl and he cares enough to lie to her to make her life better. I think these kids could have a future. ;D

Let me get this straight, you're talking about going out of town for a weekend to hang out with a bunch of guys and talk about gear and music? And she's almost forbidding you to go?
You are a guitarist and play in a band right? You obviously never had "the talk" with her. The "I am a musician and this an unchangeable part of who I am so lets get this out in the open from the beginning "talk.
I am married, been with the same girl for five years and she loves ,trusts and supports me because she knew what I did from the beg. I typically am gone several days a week and home for a few. Sometimes I leave for weeks. Now it seems I am looking at finding a new band and the ones I'm talking to tour for months on end. Its hard to find a girl who will support and accept their man being away at times but they are out there. We always say that I could be in Iraq or be a firefighter or someone who's life is in constant danger and might never return home each time they leave.
So If your girl told mine her dilema she would get laughed at hysterically.
I mean cmon what there could be a threat to your relationship? Motorcop and Tj getting you drunk and getting you in a 3 way? lol!!! (sorry guys ,had to keep the tradition going!)
But seriously, this is just silly.
Sorry man,But this is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard!

Rock on EDGE!!!!! Good to hear from a brother that's keepin' it real and also that obviously has a cool girl. To tell you the truth, even though my wife is due to give birth to our first son around the time of Splawn-con, she has been encouraging me to go anyway because she knows I would have such a great time. I am having a hard time with it though because if I missed the birth, I would never forgive myself. Those that have kids know that it requires great sacrifice at times, but the rewards are immeasurable.

Yeah it REALLY is a but much DD. It was funny at first but now its become kinda sad and pathetic. I also have to agree with edgebsl a bit too, when I first moved to Florida I had been married 3 years and I was in a band that would go out for 3-4-5 days at a time then home for 3 or 4 days. It was NOT easy but its part of the sacrifices you make for eatchother to make it work in the long term,, LONG TERM. I can say this 'cause I been married 10 years. When she met me I was playing 50 weeks a year 3-4 nights a week. It was an understanding between us even if it was an adjustment for her, which it always is, but you make it work if you care about eatchother.
Coincidentally, my wife read Motorcops rant and some others on this thread and she was pretty surprised that a younger dude would have these issues. The bottom line is playing music is maybe the 2nd or 3rd most important thing in your life right? It should be at least in her top ten then too if she really loves you, thus you doing something like this this should not be an issue.
Word of advice, if her family is meddling at 3 years it'll only get worse. You need to get that stopped ASAP.

Motorcop has a huge set of stones. They’re like two Sputniks swingin’ Motorcop, May I have your autograph? D Wow, TJ, those girls sure feel "safe" with you huh? Don, are you serious with this? Obviously I don't know you, but I think you should have your "man-card" revoked for even starting this thread. And any brothers that "signed" this ridiculous petition instead of telling you what they really thought should be ashamed of themselves. Your girl is cute and all, but there are a million of them out there. If you want something adorable to follow you everywhere and never leave your side, get a golden retriever. You can make all the touchy-feely arguments about how she was raised to be insecure and all that, but I personally do not have the patience or desire to coddle people like that. Go see a therapist and deal with your "issues", and call me when you are ready to be in an adult relationship. Life is way too short to wasting time with that crap. Every minute wasted is a minute you will never get back. If she doesn't feel she can trust you out of her sight, she is not the one for you. That doesn't make her or you a bad person, it's just a bad fit. Sometimes things just aren't meant to be, no matter how much we would like them to work out . Take a step back and really look at things. So man-up, take your nuts out of her purse, and tell her your going and that's that. Or just keep tolerating this ridiculous behavior and maybe you can see if the "promise-keepers" are coming to your area. ;D As much as I tease TJ about being an H-MO, my boy is getting paid and getting laid. Do you think he is sweating any of these chicks? No way. If they give him any static, their gone. There is always someone else just around the corner. Women need to know that to respect you. Your options are what makes you most attractive to them. That girl is not with you for you. Let's be honest. She is too hot for you, just like my wife is way too hot for me. I look like Tommy-Boy, she looks like Eva Longoria, you do the math. A lot of people say were like the King of Queens. The fat, dumb guy with the crew-cut and the hot little italian chick. Your girl is only with you to keep you away from other chicks. Once she senses that danger of losing you to another girl is gone, you are no longer desireable and she will probably kick you to the curb anyway. I won't lie, you have done some damage with this wussified thread. You will have to be strong to regain the upper hand. Tell your chick if she is not there when you get back, you will have someone new in there before her pillow even gets cold. And make her believe it. You gotta keep your pimp-hand strong!!! And finally. Remember, it's always better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
