Look, If you are wondering what a 45 yr old is doing wandering around the Splawn fan site or could give a rip! here's the deal:
I started playing guitar at 11, backyard parties at 14, clubs at 16, quit the whole stupid scene at 23...got it? We started off as a band called 'Three Fingers' and changed to 'Arch Rival' when I was 17...played the LA rock scene in the late 70s early 80s...knew alot of guys in the bands at that time hung with some partied with others...during the mid 80s I had a personal breakdown of sorts when my dad died...quit the scene got married and got a day job...still dabbled on guitar but no where near as serious as when gigging...sold all my gig gear and went where all rockers go to die: 'to the blues combo amp gig'...I started playing alot of classical guitar and acoustic stuff (Hedges/Metheney)..in the mid 80s I CONVERTED to Christianity...I thought my guitar playing days were DONE...well, we belonged to a HUGE church in SoCal (EV FREE in Fullerton) and my wife went up to the worship leader there and told him that I was a former pro player..Bla Bla Bla...he insisted I come to audition and soon became part of the 'worship band' there...well, this guy (Jimmy Mac) is also a Christian Music producer..he produces a lot of pro singers etc...he asked if I would back his singers and artists when gigging and in studio...from there I did a TON of Christian Music gigs (ROCK gigs..) and ended up needing more and more gear...met people in the industry and ended up playing with their bands and from there asked to play in different worship bands...I became VERY busy playing a few times a week in different churches and different auditoriums around SoCal...more and more the bands wanted me to really KICK it so, I ended up with Marshall type amps (Soldano/Bogner/Guytron) that I trusted to bring it in the club days....my wife and I ended up moving to Northern Wisconsin (the equivalent of musician's HELL) in 02' because of my business (aviation)...I still do recording and lead worship in a small church up here...and am currently working on a Christian ROCK CD with a great singer and a group of guys up here that are involved in youth ministries....it is through that pursuit that I ended up at Splawn amps...I was looking for a solid modded Marshall and stumbled on Scott's site from someone selling on ebay...I was impressed with Scott's open declaration of his Christianity but wasn't convinced of his product...so, I called him and chatted a while, ordered the QuickRod and after a month ordered his 4 X 12 cab...I am very happy with his product! Is it a VERSATILE amp? ...no, not really for lower gain styles...but, IMHO it is the BEST gain amp I have played...it WILL turn heads when you kick in the goods on a solo or chunky rhythm...I checked this site out and found alot of you guys like the guys/guitar players I grew up with in the ol' days... I'm not here to preach to you guys or to gain any respect...really, I don't care...I'm just bored and don't have anyone up here to talk gear or trash to... ;D NOW, if you don't give a rip?....so WHAT!
