Jimbax, sorry gotta disagree with you on the Lynch insight. Even if you were best friends in the late 70's George became a completely different animal after Yngwie and Paul Gilbert in '85 or so...when I assume you never listened or talked to him anymore.
He became 10x the player he was in Xciter and early Dokken by the mid to late 80s and on. Both Lynch Mob albums rule and his 90s Dokken stuff like Dysfunctional was awesome too. Your really missing out.
He was hanging out with Tony Macalpine and going to see Racer-X in LA almost daily. I've only met him twice, but I've talked to him about Gilbert and he said he changed his whole approach to playing as he did mine (Gilbert). I've also talked to him and read interviews where he said Back for The Attack was basically his solo album with Don singing. He got his way on it from start to finish thats why its laden with Lynch solos, intos, outros and 2-3-4 even 5 solos in some songs. Best Lynch playing ever and he agrees and regularly ackowledges this..

ok, since everyone else is sharing....here's my story.... My name's Matt Schiariti....i'm a little over 30 years old..youngest of four (by 8, 10 and 11 years)...I have 8 neices and newphews....lol...married for a year and a half and recently found out that there's a shredder junior or shredette on the way (now I'll know who really reads this by how many comments I get about THAT...lol) I'm an engineer..I work for the government... let's see...been playing since I was about 15..funnily enough, the guy who sings in my band got me into it and he doesn't play anymore...lol... never had much luck with bands..there was always a peice missing....and because all of us were generally practical and career minded, college and whatnot was the priority....so, finally after 15 years I'm in a band...and I'm loving it =) I grew up on rock...my brothers were always listening to Boston, VH, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Styx, Zepplin, Kiss...so that's where I got my rockign nature from I guess...no rap or country in my house..no way, no how... I got into VH when I was in middle school and shortly after I discovered Iron Maiden and was instantly hooked...I'm about THE biggest maiden fan you'll find....lived and breathed them for over a decade....and I'll tell ya one other thing....you'll know that I'm a TRUE maiden fan because everything after seventh son, with a few exceptions, is complete and utter tripe...lol.that's how I see it....people who like the later albums just cause it's maiden aren't true maiden fans to me....narrow minded, maybe...but that's my story and you can't convince me otherwise =D people have accused me of sounding like lynch..and to be honest, I don't see it...I just play what I play....I try to play everything balls out..I'm not the best guitar player you'll ever meet, but I'm far from the worst..and you'll never hear me brag...unless I'm just bustin' chops =D anywho, that's a little about me.. Hi, my name is 'shreder75' and I'm a guitar-a-holic....HI SHREDER75!!! yes, and Im also addicted to porn...woops =D

Yeah but thats what i'm trying to tell ya, Lynch isn't like those those chops-metal guys at all dude, hes way above that. Hes evolved past it which is awesome.
You owe it to yourself to pickup, Back For the Attack, wicked Sensation and Sacred Groove to name a few.

I'll do it! it will open up a 'time capsule' that I am still a bit bitter over...but, I guess it's time to confront my 'demons from the past'...(isn't that a heavy metal album name??)

Yeah, I have a bunch of friends and aquaintences who have 'made it' at one level or another..
Neil Zaza, Bill Morris (played with Warrant and Paul Gilbert), Ripper Owens (Judas Priest)... Mike Szuter (Paul Gilberts bassist)... and currently the band Trivium are good friends. They used to come to all the Dirrty Hairy shows before getting sighed and touring now... huge band right now.
I think its great and its just that many more friends you have who can hook you up too..

Don't be bitter, be happy that one of your buds made it! I have friends I grew up with who are doing way more than me,, Its all good. no, don't misunderstand...I am not bitter over George or any of those old school guys making good...(maybe Carlos Cavazo...hehehe)...but, just that whole scene...it was all encompassing and I didn't leave on the most positive terms...I wouldn't trade where I am now for the world! I am most content with life...VERY content as a matter of fact! Going back into that 'time period' wasn't as 'glamorous' or 'romantic' as one might think...alot of lying, using, betrayal... abusing...etc..you know the score...I kinda shelved all that crap...my wife knows a few stories...she was in the studio when I met/confronted Don Dokken...I'm glad she got to see first hand (on a number of occasions...) what 'making it' does to a person's soul...keep in mind it was those 'pressures' that pushed Kobain to suicide, Joplin, Hendrix....it wears on one's soul...that's all. The MOST disappointing thing to me was to WORK so hard and to climb into the elite crowd of that period only to find...empty unfulfillment...
