Don't be bitter, be happy that one of your buds made it! I have friends I grew up with who are doing way more than me,, Its all good. no, don't misunderstand...I am not bitter over George or any of those old school guys making good...(maybe Carlos Cavazo...hehehe)...but, just that whole scene...it was all encompassing and I didn't leave on the most positive terms...I wouldn't trade where I am now for the world! I am most content with life...VERY content as a matter of fact! Going back into that 'time period' wasn't as 'glamorous' or 'romantic' as one might think...alot of lying, using, betrayal... abusing...etc..you know the score...I kinda shelved all that crap...my wife knows a few stories...she was in the studio when I met/confronted Don Dokken...I'm glad she got to see first hand (on a number of occasions...) what 'making it' does to a person's soul...keep in mind it was those 'pressures' that pushed Kobain to suicide, Joplin, Hendrix....it wears on one's soul...that's all. The MOST disappointing thing to me was to WORK so hard and to climb into the elite crowd of that period only to find...empty unfulfillment... You confronted Don Dokken? You don't mind me asking what happened do you?

Nice bio Jim (not that I give a rip). Ha! I guess I'm a tweener (I'm 36) since I'm not a kid anymore but I'm not up to Quatro status yet. I was born in a small town in Texas in 1969........ OK I won't go that far back. My Dad plays guitar and since he's always been my hero, I wanted to play too. I tinkered at about 10 years old and got a little more serious at 12. When I was 13 Mom and Dad baught me a guitar for Christmas. I played bass in a band in high school (maybe 3 or 4 gigs) and a band in college (one gig) and graduated and moved. I didn't play with anyone else for ten years. Started playing in a blues rock 70's type band for a couple of years until the drummer and bass player split to play with the local hero's because the played every weekend. I enjoyed practice more than the gigs to be honest. I got that out of my system and now I just play for myself. I am very actice in my church and am a born again Christian. I am very interested in helping people meet Jesus. When I talked to Scott, I was very happy to hear his testamony. What a great guy! I'm the high school sunday school teacher at my church and run sound there. They always ask me to play guitar but I just don't want to. I'm not sure that I would be doing it for the right reasons. I am a perfectionist (even though nothing I do ever turns out perfect) so I would probably be doing it for me instead of the Lord. I don't really like to be the center of attention so I like being behind the scenes. I have a wonderful wife who I have been with since high school and have two kids (Ashley 16 and Zachary 12). My wife does MRI at a hospital and I am over the clinical engineering department (repairs and preventative maintenance of medical equipment) at three local hospitals. I love music but my real hobby is Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I have been training in various arts for years but BJJ is my favorite. I have trained with some great fighters like Royce Gracie and am teaching with a friend of mine at a local mixed martial arts school. I'll wrestle you for your Splawn?!?!?!?! Let's see...you're a Christian (bonus)....you like rockin' guitars and amps (Splawn that is..) (bonus)...AND you are an expert at openning a can of wupp*ss on anyone that confronts you physically (bonus)....Dude! you move on to the bonus round!!! (applause!!!)..... Me, I have a 9mm and a 16 round clip for those that want to give my wife and I any grief (for 'defense' that is...)... Wow! Bonus round! Thanks Jim. Ha! In your face guys! That's right, Round TWO suckers! Uh............ what is the bonus round anyway? Yeah, I'm a shooter too (H&K .40cal). I have my concealed carry license just in case I'm a little tired and don't feel like breaking out the ninja-like skilz on someone (or if there are more than ten attackers).

The MOST disappointing thing to me was to WORK so hard and to climb into the elite crowd of that period only to find...empty unfulfillment... You confronted Don Dokken? You don't mind me asking what happened do you? Man, long story...we were at a studio in Redondo Beach, All Access or Total Access or something like that...Don was there to mix some tracks down...George had just joined Dokken...I was there to record guitar parts we were doing for album...well, in that studio they like to record the guitar right up next to the manager's office...I had a full Marshall stack up against the wall of the mgrs office about a foot from the door...well, into the office walk Dokken and the studio manager (I forget his name..) my drummer (Michael Constantine and close personal friend to Terry Bozzio, they shared a drum studio together..) said: Jim, that was Don Dokken that just walked in there...(I didn't know the guy other than George told me he just joined up with him for a new band...I didn't know what he looked like) Michael said: hey, jim, crank up your amp so they can't hear what they are saying in there...so, while waiting for the engineer to que me up to record, I cranked up the Marshall to 10 and started WAILING...MAJOR LOUD!!! I went for it! wah, wah, fast runs...the works...my wife had her hands over her ears it was soooLOUD! everyone in the studio came over to see what the??? was going on! about 30 seconds it took for Dokken and the manager guy to come barreling out of the office...I kept WAILING away and acted like I didn't see em' (hehehe) Dokken stood in front of me with his arms folded..after about a minute I stopped and looked to the control room and said: 'OK, I'm READY!" (hehe) Dokken says: hey man, not bad,...but, speed isn't everything man...so, I started to take my guitar off and hand it to him and I said: here, you show me better...he said: no,no,no,...I could if I wanted to....I said: go for it hot shot...He's: no, no, no...I said: who are you? he says: Don Dokken, I said: 'who?'...Don Dokken...I said: oh, you are the guy George joined up with...he said: 'you know George?' yep...He said: man, he's such a p*ss... I have to re-record all his solo parts because he can't handle it...I said 'that's not what I heard'...He said: 'It's true, I had to do the solo for 'Paris is Burning' because George couldn't get it in the studio'...I said: man, he's been playing it for years and now he can't play it?? Don said: 'it doesn't matter anyways because I'm gonna replace him with this new kid that just got into town, Ingwie Malmsteen, have you heard of him?? he's only about 17 but he can blow, you, me and George away on guitar, plays classical licks a real prodigy...I said: I haven't heard of him...(I hadn't at that time...) he said: 'well check him out, when I kick George out on his *ss you guys can start your own band.... can you keep it down?' I said: it's our dime you guys go get some coffee or something... then he walks back into the managers office...my girlfriend (now wife) says: 'what an arrogant jack *ss' i said yep, I feel sorry for George having to work with that guy...
