you have such a romantic idea of it all....I'm afraid my take is probably closer to reality.. I heard its a dump. Bunch of beer can's, paper, day old pizza, etc. I would believe it too! I am sure Eddie has a lot of nice equipement............too bad he doesn't use it. I read the article about the SSL board that he got. He blamed the new recordings on that thing. He just didn't know how to use it. Should have just sold the darn thing and got a good analog/ digital board. At least something that he would be familiar with! He could also plug a couple of those Plexi's in and get a great guitar sound. You can't tell me that he doesn't have some really good one's! Dude, wait....let me look around and see if splawnfan is listenning....ok, good,....now, those 2 Van Halen brothers are all about the excuses...man, I heard an hour interview with them (a few years ago...) and they were whining about this and whining about that... Sammy sucks, DL Roth sucks.... this guy screwed us that guy screwed us...man...excuse after excuse after excuse...that's all they blabbed about...nothing positive either...just a bunch of blame for every one they come in contact with...

Dang...you were there....well, I will say that it is Alex that does all (most) of the talking....there is this impression that if you don't do things his way he goes to your house and kicks your @ss...at least that is what HE says anyway...

Van Halen is 2 very different things to me.
1) My inspiration for playing the guitar, which has led me to making a great career and living playing music etc..
2) The biggest disapointment of my life.
EVH is a joke now. He hates himself, he hates life, hes ruined his music output with this attitude and depression thing he has. Its very sad.

Hmm Reminds me of Dave Mustaine... last I heard he is still mad at metallica. I really thought he was gonna cry in one interview when he talked to Lars on camera. it was pathetic.

Its very sad. now add drugs and achohol, you got the late 70-80's ya very sad. Just like jimbax stated a few times.. it's a very frustrating situation most of the time. most of us came out of it OK. a lot didnt. as in EVH. one of the worse I know of is Johnny K old stepenwolf, very mad at the world. Did Tommy Lee ever graduate? LOL

blah blah blah! all the esp hate on this board =)
I haven't gigged as much as most of you guys (although I'm starting to) but I've had my Haji for 10 years...I've had many other guitars in many price ranges in that time and I always come back to my lynch...feel, looks, tone....I've yet to play a guitar that I think is better than this one...gibsons, jacksons, prs's, etc, etc...I'll take my esp over any of em in a heart beat....

I agree with Splawn fan on this one. Eddie kept getting better and weirder and came up with more cool stuff up through 1984 which I still say had his best playing on it. And Fair Warning, he stopped using all those VH 1-II licks and changed alot.
My dissappointment in VH is not the output in the 80's, its the lack of output in the 90's and on. Sad. I mean even the Stones can get together every 2 years and put out a record and tour. Look at Aerosmith.. cleaned up and putting out hit after hit. EVH is a jerk and nobody can wok with him except his brother who is also a jerk. Lets face facts. Sorry, it makes me sad.

I have it right here...yea, he does get a bit better but most of the licks off of the first couple of albums are on this boot...look, Eddie (tied with Jimi Hendrix) has had the single most powerful impact in rock guitar history...that I don't question...my problem with Eddie (like D-craigs) is that he doesn't really improve...that's fine because he is 'Eddie'...in my opinion it would be difficult to improve upon the first album...and, I don't think he has played with as much reckless fire and energy since...

Craig and Jim hit it on the head. I haven't bought a VH album since 1984. But I still hold EVH in high regards and agree that he and Hendrix had the biggest impact on players of our generation.

Sorry, it makes me sad. both of em' are jerks...they got alot of attention as youngsters and never grew up...I don't have enough energy today to start a 'rant' about today's celebrities (rock stars, athletes, movie stars...) having terribly shallow character....Van Halen bros would fit right into this mold however..

Ditto on that Hendrix and VH had the most impact for sure TJ. I like Hendrix' blues stuff alot. He died young too, so like Randy we'll never know if he would have gotten better but my guess is yes. Whats EVH's excuse?
