one question i'd ask george lynch if i ever met him was going to be "how come you never endorsed kramer and went to esp?"...when i was a kid i kept wondering about this because he had many kramer guitars around the "under lock and key" days/tour and before...
well, i was surfing vintagekramer.com and finally saw this...
"Kramer invited matt masciandaro, (my tech at the time, now president of ESP), to come to the factory on a day off while we were in NY playing a show. They we're going to send a limo for us and take us out to lunch. We ended up partying a little to much and ended up falling asleep parked in the center of the turnpike and being woken up by the cops. We finally showed up at Kramer. They let us use their limo to fall asleep in,( it was parked in the woodshop), and fed us cold pizza when we woke up. They didn't offer me much of a deal so we ended up going with ESP eventually, hope this clears things up!"

ESP made some nice guitars in the 80s...then they started making toys...in the late 80s I was going to get a 'Jackson' Soloist' made for me...when I talked to Jackson and got the price ($2K plus) I decided to try ESP and that's when I met Neil Moser and had a guitar made by him for $1100 with case and it was a much nicer guitar than the soloist...

I agree, most ESP's are toys and not at all road/gig worthy. If I'm not mistaken the older ESP's were making guitars for Kramer. I think alot of the 'good' Jap Kramers were made by ESP.
I almost bought a Lynch ESP Kamikaze when I was shopping earlier this year, but for $1800, inferior hardware and woods etc.. I could get a Mansel for the same price. No comparison.
I still may get one one day, but its got to be a good used deal or something, those guitars are not worth a penny over $1000.00 much less what they are asking.

You know, the same thing goes for everything else on the market. Peavey is a great example! The Wolfgangs are ok, but don't feel that solid. The 5150s look and sound cheap too. Didn't realize it till I started playing the Mojave and Splawn stuff!

Wow, really thats cool, especially that you won it.. You may as well hang it on a wall cause after a years worth of gigs it will be a useless pile of rusted pot-metal and crackly pots. Biggest mistake I ever made was buying that Wolfgang.

I love Eddie. Always have. My buddy went to see them in Dallas. Said that Ed was so hammered that at one point he actually puked on the side of the stage. Also said his playing was horrible "that" night. I was saddened to hear this. Really bums me out.

Really bums me out. what's more rock and roll than puking on the side of the stage? ;D i saw that tour 4 times last year...2 nights from in the rings and 2 nights from second row center...i can't talk about every stop on that tour but the 4 nights i saw them ed wasn't inebriated...got to hang with michael anthony a little bit and spoke to ed...good times ;D

you have such a romantic idea of it all....I'm afraid my take is probably closer to reality.. I heard its a dump. Bunch of beer can's, paper, day old pizza, etc. I would believe it too! I am sure Eddie has a lot of nice equipement............too bad he doesn't use it. I read the article about the SSL board that he got. He blamed the new recordings on that thing. He just didn't know how to use it. Should have just sold the darn thing and got a good analog/ digital board. At least something that he would be familiar with! He could also plug a couple of those Plexi's in and get a great guitar sound. You can't tell me that he doesn't have some really good one's!
