Winger is the BIGGEST joke/sell-out/half-shaven/pose fer the camara/ piece o garbage....his guitar player could do a few RH hammer-ons though.....can anyone say: 'POSE ROCK'...PALEEEESE!

shredder, Again your looking at it from a guitarist perpective. I am not talking about musicianship here. I'll listen to Nirvana any day over Dokken, Ratt or whatever you said. Now that doesn't mean I think Kurt Cobain was a good guitarist because I thought he was pretty boring to be honest. His solos were weak and he had poor technique but he wrote good songs with soul, from the heart. That's what I'm talking about. Nirvana won't create any virtuoso's...ni kidding and they never intended to. I n fact they probably aspired to do the opposite to kill of some letfover cheesiness. As for the radio, that's a different story. I'll agree that almost all the new music on their is garbage and we are force fed it but that's nothing new. I'm talking about kids who are true fans and actually own albums of Pearl Jam, Hendrix, Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins. And there is a reason why alot of stations play those bands even amongst the crap numetal, emo, pop punk, etc. Because that stuff hold up and people WANT to hear that. Modern rock stations don't play Motley Crue or Ratt because younger people DON"T want to hear that sh*it. I'm talking about it from a MUSICIAN's standpoint...not just a guitarplayer's stand point... where do you think they HEARD that stuff? on the radio..you can't buy a CD of a band you never heard before because it gets no airplay.... |

i'll name ya 3 solos that are well crafted by cc..."rose"..."nuthin but a good time"..."talk dirty"... on the list or memorable songs, songs in the public consciousness...those 3 songs are more popular than anything that other "great guitarists" (like lynch/warren/jake) ever did...even EVH... his best solo outta those three is probably talk dirty to me..which quite frankly, I made up my own and it's better than his...lol... and you're probably right about that being more popular than those other names you mentioned...but when does popular opinion make something good? this is why I'm usually the dark horse..I don't buy into that schit...I like what I like no matter what's on the radio or on MTV....always have, always will..and I'm d**n proud of it. my point is that those songs are going to be played well after all those guys die...and that's the whole point...for your music to survive you |

look, you WANKERS can go on and play yer 'big hair' tunes...after that Don and I will go out on stage and play: 'Hunger Strike' and 'Black' with our acoustics and I guarantee you the chicks will dig us WAY more! the drunken 80's fat guy at the bar might cry a little but he don't count... Theres nothing more sincere, than the feeling the first time a hot @ss chick sticks her hands down your pants. Sorry, but I'll take the 80's lyrics anyday. If I am ever able to relate to Nirvanas hearfelt lyrics of hate, dismay, boredom, underacheiving slacker life, will be the day I check out.

But don't blame them. Blame their publicist. Photos and the length of their hair have nothing to do with the music they created. Listen to their third album. Listen to Kip Wingers solo album.
