Winger is the BIGGEST joke/sell-out/half-shaven/pose fer the camara/ piece o garbage....his guitar player could do a few RH hammer-ons though.....can anyone say: 'POSE ROCK'...PALEEEESE! Jim just cause he's better looking than you is no reason to hate . Reb Beach could do a few hammer-ons??? Are you kidding me? Maybe that's why Alice cooper hired him to play in his band after he left Winger. Or maybe Dokken hired him for the same reason. I'll agree with you that they were put into stupid photo shoots. But don't blame them. Blame their publicist. Photos and the length of their hair have nothing to do with the music they created. Listen to their third album. Listen to Kip Wingers solo album. He's a great songwriter. LMAO....well, he is a rather handsome fellow, isn't he...lol... you mentioend something very appropriate...these looks and antics..these are what the RECORD LABELS DEMANDED FROM ALL BANDS BACK THEN! now bands have more creative freedom in the fact that they can wear ripped jeans (megadeth) or armani (greenday) or anything in between... oh, Kip Winger is also a classically trained acoustic guitar player.....for anyone who didn't know =)

shredder, Again your looking at it from a guitarist perpective. I am not talking about musicianship here. I'll listen to Nirvana any day over Dokken, Ratt or whatever you said. Now that doesn't mean I think Kurt Cobain was a good guitarist because I thought he was pretty boring to be honest. His solos were weak and he had poor technique but he wrote good songs with soul, from the heart. That's what I'm talking about. Nirvana won't create any virtuoso's...ni kidding and they never intended to. I n fact they probably aspired to do the opposite to kill of some letfover cheesiness. As for the radio, that's a different story. I'll agree that almost all the new music on their is garbage and we are force fed it but that's nothing new. I'm talking about kids who are true fans and actually own albums of Pearl Jam, Hendrix, Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins. And there is a reason why alot of stations play those bands even amongst the crap numetal, emo, pop punk, etc. Because that stuff hold up and people WANT to hear that. Modern rock stations don't play Motley Crue or Ratt because younger people DON"T want to hear that sh*it. I'm talking about it from a MUSICIAN's standpoint...not just a guitarplayer's stand point... where do you think they HEARD that stuff? on the radio..you can't buy a CD of a band you never heard before because it gets no airplay.... ???What??? almost everyband I listen to now is from finding them myself. If you care to look beyond the radio garbage there is plenty out there in the underground. I think the only 2 bands that I heard off the radio that I like in the last 10 years were the Killers and Interpol, which you probably don't know the latter.

mtv dictates what younger people like...if mtv was playing ratt/dokken/crue...then young people would like ratt/dokken/crue... if mtv was playing opera...then young people would like opera I have to disagree. Music reflects the times and 80's rock has no representation for the younger generation. The 90's and today are a period of frustration and turmoil so the music (American) reflects the state of America. And when some wanker puts on a hair band at a bar all the young people scowl and hiss..execpt for the few dumb drunk blonds waiting to sing the one line they know from that Bon Jovi song. And that chick will be most likely to be assaulted by Criag ;D
