Ok, I am workin' and listenning to Ratt's double 'best of' album 'Ratt and Roll 8191'...and they write some good tunes for a heavy edge pop rock band aimed at teenage girls!...
big marketing cliche' in rock/pop (cause its true..) "young girls age 8-18 make up the bulk of the pop/rock music purchaser" it was true at that time and probably true today...
'Body Talk' rocks! Demartini should give George Lynch a royalty for his riffing on this tune...
This band wrote more popular 'hard rock pop' tunes than anybody including Van Halen....IMHO
The hot rod Marshall guitar sound is excellent too!

after listenning some more....Demartini leans 85% Lynch--- 15% Eddie...they do a great job of getting the cranked Marshall sound, one of the best I've heard, nice job engineers/producers...though the singer has a New York TON of junk on his voice (to help the boy out...)

He certainly has a bunch of processing on his voice in the studio....Demartinis solo on 'tell the world' is one of the worst solos I've ever heard on record...sounds like a cheap demo..the later songs are well produced 'body talk' 'round and round' 'lack of communication' etc... have a real nice 'ballsey' Marshall sound goin on.

What!!?? Its funny in this thread I'm sticking up for VH in the other I'm ripping on them,, ha ha ha.
Jimbax.. Seriously dude, VH is one of the all-time best selling bands period. They had way more hits and sold millions more records than Ratt. Ratt was an LA Metal band. VH was a rock and roll band. Not a shredder thing at all. How do you correlate Eddies playing to anything 'shredding'?

VH does not appeal to teen chicks...that's my point...they sell alot of albums, more than Ratt? of course...But, I think Ratt wrote better tunes than Van Halen for this genre....ALOT better. I listen to Van Halen and get sorry Eddie riffs as vehicles for his solos....I listen to Ratt and I get 'Bay City Rollers' of the 80s writing cheesy pop love tunes (with some sac) aimed directly at teen chicks...I'm not a teen chick (hehe) but, overall, I like more Ratt songs than I do Van Halen guit-riff-vehicles...But, I like Eddie as a great guitar player...make any sense?

Good god guys, no more Van Halen fighting! LOL
Demartini is one of my favorites. I am trying to track down a couple of Ratt pro shot boots on DVD. I have them doing 2 songs along with Kingdom Come, Brittney Foxx, and Bon Jovi. It was a 1988 New Years Eve Special from Japan. Anyway, Demartini has great Marshall tones on the early albums. He switched to Soldano SLO-100s later on. He still rules though. Does he still play with anyone? Body Talk is a great riffing tune! Lay It Down is really cool too. Lack Of Communication has the Drop D tuning thing going on. Love that one too.
I like Demartini's guitars. What are they? Strats? Charvels? I always wanted to get the whole Snake Skin look. Very cool paint job!
