being able to play beethoven's suite #5 with your feet while cooking an omelette doesn't put you in the same league as randy ( ;D) Now that's funny! I wish I could play Beethoven's suite #5 with my feet. that would be quite a feat (get it! ;D)

And if I couldn't play it that way I would be de-feet-ed.

vitto bratta....great player..but THAT's an EVH clone...nuno? I don't think so... go back and listen to pornografitti....yeah, uses two handed techniques alot, but doesn't sound like EVH to me.... I will admit that on the first album he's a little on the EVH side... once again, I can't stress enough that this thread didn't start out as a 'place in history' type of thread... as far as john norum goes..he's a phucking animal....I can tell you ahven't listened to any of the albums I've mentioned... yep, paul gilbert....freaky fast monster...BUT, does so with style..knows when to use it and when to turn it off.... dude, I never argued about RR's place in the world as an influence....I've said that many times... but if you're goign to do that you might as well mention tony iommi and what he was doing with black sabbath..arguably the first real 'metal band'..even though I can't stand them.. see, that's the difference between me and some of the other posts going on here....I can not like a guitar player's style or music, but I can STILL give them the credit they're due for certain things... zepplin....can't stand them....hendrix, can't stand him....RR, don't particularly like him...but I can say that they're among the most influential bands/individuals of all time....there's no doubting that... my like/dislike of certain things doesn't color my perceptions.... nuno is an eddie clone...nothing more...hell VH should get co-writing credits for at least the first 2 albums...and i'm a guy who went to see nuno at the channel club w/extreme in boston way before they even got signed... john norum...i'm speechless...just speechless marty friedman/jason becker...great players...but putting them in the same league as randy?...when i mean league i don't mean who can play the hardest sh!t...i mean...place in history...and that doesn't mean who came first... steve stevens...probably the only guy in that entire list you listed that is even close to doing anything original pablo gilberto...ywho??...'nuff said let's see here....don't like Black Sabbath....Don't like Hendrix....Don't like Randy Rhoads...don't like Zeppelin...Those are my main influences rock wise anyways...no wonder we get along ssoooo well...

you know...a few years ago 'Europe' concert was on tv....'the final countdown' (arggghhh) commercial CRAP...then the guitar player GOES OFF! on this totally awesome solo! I was major impressed! strat to Marshall man, old style....if John Norum is his name then he IS good! I really enjoyed his playing....the band, however, sucks...

lmao I would call Nuno influential. Maybe he wasn't to you. But think of the young guys that were coming up in the late 80's early 90's. He was an influence to them. I don't think he's an Eddie clone. I think he took a bit of what Eddie did and compounded on it. But then again that's my opinion. I think Nuno has gone astray as of late. He needs to realize that he's a rippin player and quit trying to be Prince. Shredder, Virginia Luque was Andres Segovia's understudy. She'll knock you senseless with her playing. Brent Mason: Nashvilles top session player. Friggin freak on the guitar. He plays all styles and flat out rips on all of them Tuck Andress: Guitarist from Tulsa, OK. He's a trip. Plays in a duo with his wife called Tuck and Patti. You'd swear there was a full band playing as he does all bass lines, harmony, melody on the guitar by himself without using effects. Ben Lacy: Same vein as Tuck. Will freak you out when he does renditions of Steely dan songs by himself. Was a total shredder back in the day and can wail when he wants to. being able to play beethoven's suite #5 with your feet while cooking an omelette doesn't put you in the same league as randy ( ;D)

If I had to choose for a band though, I'd pick adrian smith over vai any day...wrap your brain around that one =)

EVH Iron Maiden (in particular, adrian smith) Rush Lynch/Dokken Jake E. Jeff Wattson? Brad Gillis? in a little girlie band called night ranger....ever hear their solo albums? they're out of control....same thing with norum.... Hey, look at steve stevens..he was barely discernable when playing with billy idol.....you pop in the vince neil exposed album and he'll stick his hand down your throat, rip out your still beating heart, then show it to you, that's how good his playing is on that album =) does it bug me that some chose to be in schit bands rather than playin' to their potential? yep...but at least they CAN play..lol..unlike alotta these other bands...weezer, etc, etc...

I think he's actually gotten worse the longer he plays.....they did a reunion of sorts on VH1 a year or so ago... of course the women in the audience were still willing to bear the band's children, but oh my God, is he not the single sloppiest guitar player I've ever born witness too
