s60.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=05Z8MZ034421R33QJEMDLVRYERI know he made the 'most overrated guitarists' thread..lol..but I don't care...I've always more or less liked zakk..not a fan of his music now but I still think he's a great player...do I think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread? no..but I still think he's great..not to mention the fact that he's got a distinct style that you can pick out of a crowd after hearing a few notes....not easy these days when alotta guitar players either a) have no style or are b) musical automotons who all sound alike.. enjoy =) I especially like the country finger lickin' chicken picken stuff he does..lol

I remember when he first got the gig with Ozzy, I remember all the stage guys talkin about the guitar sound engineer had to cover his rack in plexiglass and lock him out of it. Zack would go mess it all up!!! then he wouldnt have the " The sound" for the tour that was on the album. he was .. 17 I think, probably never seen anything like a eventide etc !! didnt he start out a a country picker?
( friend of freind, a lighting stage expert is how I got the story.)

he's big into the country thing, no doubt...and I know that he was very young with the first time he was with ozzy....I've heard that he was only playin' for about five years at that point..that's friggin' crazy..lol

No, he started with Ozzy when he was 19 and had been playing since he was 11 or something. Plenty of time to get that good. Took classical and jazz lessons. He didn't start with the Albert Lee thing until after joining Ozzy. Southern Rock + Ozzy Metal = End of Ozzy to me. I never liked Zakk's Ozzy material after the NRFTW. Get Jake back in the band PLEASE.

I don't know, I just watched the video. Sure hes good and has a few squealy things that give him his style, but man he really relies on effects and gain to play those licks. God that sound is horrible. And a chorus pedal on his leads? Oh yuck.
his right hand is so stiff too, its either machine gun or nothing. He needs to play in a disco band for about a year,, LMAO.

ya, Right arm was very rigid, at least he pulled off more licks in this short video that he did on the entire dvd movie I received.
+1 on the Jake!
LMAO, I tried the disco thing once.. its called tequila, be carefull , that stuff will have you doing things you never thought possible, and your buddy always seems to have a video camera to show what you did that night. very very scary.

you know, it's funny..the more I watch pro guitar players the more I notice that a good deal of them pick exactly like that..using their whole arm just about to speed pick....stiff or not stiff, if it's accurate and can get speedy when you need it then do whatever works for ya =) I know that definetly doesn't work for me.....I can't tremelo pick like he's demonstrating....and I can't fly pick like lynch has been known to do on occasion....and I'm not going to bother to learn either..lol

by far dude...i'm not a fan of Randy..in fact, I don't care for him at all...sure, I liked alotta the songs he wrote with ozzy back in the day....classics..Crazy Train, No Bone Movies, Steal Away The Night, Over the Mountain, Flying High again, I don't know, etc, etc.. but as a guitar player? there were a few players back around that time that were head and shoulders above him, IMO...EVH, DiMartini, Lynch....Even Tom Scholtz =) fantastic guitar player....knew what to play and when to play it..I never cared for Randy's tone..in fact, not only didn't I like it, I'd say it was HORRIBLE....thing, brash, and tinny...technically he was very solid...better than me obviously..but his style left much to be desired as far as I'm concerned....it's a style thing in the end....technical proficiency is one thing, but I gotta like your style....that's one reason why I don't like John Petrucci these days..he's one of the best techincal players you'll meet, but I can't stand his style... alls I know is this..he was better after playing for 8 years than I probably ever will be...LOL.... all told, NRFTW is one of my favorite ozzy albums...BUT, that being said, the guitar ninja is definetly my favorite of all of ozzy's axe men over the years =) wait...jake was great...but your favorite even over RANDY?

Randy was a monster guitar player. I love all the Ozzy albums he did. However, Jake E. Lee is by far my favorite Ozzy guitarist. They're all good in their own right. Just some appeal to others more.
