huzzah, my brother, huzzah! lol.... I have said that in the past that who knows what would have happened to RR's 'playing if he only lived long enough to really hit his stride..something we'll never know... and I agree on ultimate sin being the best ozzy album ever....the riffing jake does on that album frigging kills..the opening riff to 'Never'?? dude, it gives me goosebumps..where the phuck did he come up with that...lol..GREAT stuff!!! and let's not forget the whacked out chords he could get with his thumb..hehe that's another thing I liked about jake's rythm playing....his use of chords....very rarely did he play JUSt a power chord..there were always other notes being fingered in there that set him apart.... Craig is here and Craig agrees, Jake was a way better player I think. He was way more orginal and certainly had more chops,,, but I love Randy and judging him on only 2 records is not fair to him because I truly believe he would have been a monster by the late 80's even Yngwie level chops, because thats where he was headed. Randys style was so linear and diatonic too, which made it sound simplistic to me even though I love all his stuff. He didn't have that dancing on the edge out of control thing like EVH or Jake, Lynch etc.. But I'll take The Ultimate Sin as the best Ozzy album hands down for guitar.

lol..no offense dude, but Jake could play circles around randy, AND he had good tone...and his rythms were more creative.. sorry, that's just how I sees it =D don't mess with the guitar ninja.....hiiyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaa...waahhhhhhhhh..... Dudes...dudes....dudes...I was there! BELIEVE ME when I tell you, NOBODY was in EVH's league and NOBODY was in Randy Rhoads league...NOOOO BODY! DeMartini would have laughed if anybody told him he was on a par with RR....Jake E knew he was on sacred ground when he got the Ozzy gig....etc...these guitar players went on to develop into better players AFTER the guy died...sure! even I'm a better player than Randy NOW!....but that isn't fair to the context of the day... oh for the love of god...here's the voice of reason...exactly...demartini would've laughed at anyone that told him he was in the same league as randy...all those guys came out because of what randy and EVH did...

What about a studio cat named Larry Carlton or a guy from Nashville named Jerry Reed or how bout that dude from Austin Texas named Eric Johnson. They were around also during that time. the only jerry reed I know is a guy who was in cannonball run =D I don't know larry carlton.. eric johnson is a fantastic player..but that's like apples and oranges....

dude, bark at the moon is a horrible album...LOL...bark at the moon and slow down are the two best songs on that album..but the rest of the album is kinda crummy =) huzzah, my brother, huzzah! lol.... WRONG!! Richie Blackmore was doin' the classical/rock thing before those guys were =) and I can compare RR and Jake because they were both in the same genre of music =) I'm not sayin' that RR's playing was totally awful...he's good a catalogue of some pretty good stuff..but consistently, I'll take Jake any day of the week.. the only jerry reed I know is a guy who was in cannonball run =D I don't know larry carlton.. eric johnson is a fantastic player..but that's like apples and oranges.... comparing jake to randy is apples and oranges...craig says jake was more "original"...what?...randy basically created that whole genre of classical music with metal...what did jake do?...when randy started playing NOONE was playing like that...not even EVH (he was doing something completely different)...after those 2 guys hit the scene it inspired the second tier guys like demartini/lynch/lee

YOu need to check out Jerry Reed. He wasn't in Cannonball run. He was in Smokey and the Bandit. He's a monster tele player. He's the guy who influenced Brent Mason and Johnny Hiland. If you haven't heard those guys you have to check them out. Also check out Monte Montgomery and Ben Lacy. Amazing guitarists.

I know who we're talkin' about...lol.... I just don't see it...ok, maybe back then you're a kid or a guy on the scene and you see this guy playhing and whatnot and he sounds great...FOR THAT TIME..I'm going by looking at things on a larger scale.....and rather unbiased adn whatnot I'd like to think =) dude, martini's friggin' phenomonal... and I'm going to get this right out there...I think Randy Roads is one of the most overrated guitarists of all time..there, I said it =) maybe if he was given more time to develop, then my mind would change..... well, comparing dimartini's lead work that he recorded with ratt with the lead work RR recorded with ozzy...i'll take dimartini....once again, better tone, better dynamics, more creative lead work.... lol....I'm the lone wolf on this board I can see =D i find this statement unbelievable...i'm a huge warren head...but we're talking about RANDY RHOADS

I was just addressing the statement that you made about RR being the first guy to 'play like that' insofar as melding classical guitar into the rock genre =) I'm not a fan of blackmore...I dondt' think he's anything special to be perfectly honest...lol.... WRONG!! Richie Blackmore was doin' the classical/rock thing before those guys were =) and I can compare RR and Jake because they were both in the same genre of music =) I'm not sayin' that RR's playing was totally awful...he's good a catalogue of some pretty good stuff..but consistently, I'll take Jake any day of the week.. oh come on bro...richie blackmore?...he was doing nothing to the extent that randy did...randy did more classical in a more metal band...
