Jimi Hendrix was a pretty sharp guy, intelligent, well spoken, good song writer/poet... Eddie Van Halen was/is a person of low character as well as possesing an IQ of a brick....I think Wolfgang helps him tie his shoes...so, for 'citizenship' Jimi: 'A'....Eddie: 'F'....

Lemme say this for a qualification: in all the years of playing and jamming, my 'jimi hendrix' experience (no pun) is more valuable than my EVH experience...if I play something like 'castles made of sand' everyone including my grandma thinks it sounds good, if I play some EVH riffs or licks...only a very small group (usually guitar players) appreciate it...he's not as 'universal' as Jimi was...

Both guitarists "created" something different. In my humble opinion, Hendrix was more of an innovator of the electric guitar. I'm 38 and grew up on EVH, so naturally I prefer listening to him...but as I study music deeper, I appreciate Hendrix sooooooo much more.

Go Jimi...Go Jimi...you know I read somewhere that EVH said that if he didn't make it playing the guitar he would be pumping gas for a living....I disagree, to work at a gas station these days you have to know how to count, and successfully take a 'slurpy' order....frankly, I don't think Eddie can do it.....he'd get fired at the 'Quickie-mart'

I think we're missing one important psychological undertone..anyone who prefers hendrix to EVH, no matter what the justification is obviously one step to right from the beginning of the evolutionary chain
lmao
