Okay, Lets just get this out of the way...yes I am crazy! Now that's taken care of:
Yes Im selling the Pro-Mod thats shown on the site with the lexan front. Its the first one Scott's done like that, and it looks killer. All that aside, I just cant bond with the amp. I usually play really heavy stuff and it just doesnt do it for me. It's just a week old, with no issues at all. The sep. eq clean channel is awesome!! If it just got heavier on the distortion channel I'd never think of getting rid of it, I think Im just more used to playing more modern sounding amps. It sounds amazing, it's just not for me. And I cant afford to keep it to use every once in a while unfortunately. The 2x12 I bought with it however, wont be going anywhere!!
It's got all the newest options since its brand new: 3rd gear, half power, sep. clean channel eq, upgraded JJ KT-88's, head cover, and a fresh new Splawn XL black shirt, unworn of course! Id like to recoup my investment in it, but i'll throw in the KT-88 upgrade & t-shirt , so im only asking $1850. You can either reply here, or email me direct: dc73@elmore.rr.com . Thanks for looking!!

Okay guys,
After much debate, and a weekend of pounding the crap outta this amp, Ive changed my mind. I finally came around to the idea that Im gonna have to have two amps to do all I want to do. Im keeping the Splawn, and either getting a Mesa Recto, or a 5150 for all my super heavy stuff. Thanks for all the inquiries, but this one's staying at home!!!

Yeah, it seems alot of the new heavy guys are using 5150's, kinda weird. It has craploads of gain but I never thought of it as a "heavy" amp. At least not in a tight defined kind of way. I'm really surprised by that observation.

I'm really surprised by that observation. people are tripping over themselves on the HC forums to get 5150's, dude..crazy! it has WAYYY too much gain...at least, it's got over and above what I would consider useable gain..anything over noon on the pre gain is just wayyyy to muddy, imo.... they sound good once they're modded though I've noticed...voodoo has some nice 5150 mods...

This is NOT directed at drjenkins, but it seems alot of the guys on HC complaining about amps not being "heavy" enough are playing little girly Ibanez guitars or ESP LTD's, crappy pointy rock sticks.. LOL. You need a PHAT piece of wood and good pups to sound heavy IMO. I think getting more gain to copmpensate for a crappy guitar is a bad idea. I think most people miss this,, maybe its something you learn with age,, LOL...

LOL

J/K Anyway, Im playing 2 different PRSi through it, A Nunis custom Les Paul style guitar, and a couple different custom pieces as well. The Nunis is my #1 right now, and it has a black limba back and maple top with WCR pickups in it So, plenty of girth going on around here as far as the guitars go. A little background on me: for the first ten years I played guitar it was solid state stuff. Ive only had a tube amp for two years now, my Engl Savage. And that thing is a beast, its just not really flipping my wig anymore. So Im on a tone quest yet again. The Splawn just reacts very differently to my playing, and thats a good thing. But needless to say, I was used to much heavier sounds from my amps. The Splawn does way more than the Engl, just not the super-metal stuff. And thats all it can't do, which is why I decided to keep it. Now im selling the Engl to get a less expensive "Metal" amp. And yeah Craig, there's a boatload of metal guys using the 5150, which is weird since the only time I played one I didnt like it. Like you said, just didnt sound very defined.

I just got a good price for my vetta on that forum..great place..and you don't have to deal with evilbay =)

Been say that for a long time. I swear, I will never buy another Ibanez, Jackson, or ESP ever again. Anything made of Basswood is terrible. I am so freakin excited about this Mansel Guitar I can't even contain myself! ;D
