Oh I agree with you guys, I think a cheap guitar can sound good through a great amp, but I really think wood does matter. Its the little things you notice, I can tell a difference in the "feel" of how a guitar reacts to bends, feedback, sustain, and theres a definite difference between a big piece of mahagony and a thin piece of basswood. But hey, don't take my word for it though,, ask someone who knows like Scott Splawn, he'll agree with me that. but your right its mostly in you hands too.

I've been playing Tom Anderson Guitars for year's now and I can't get into anything else. I have had PRS's, EBMM's, etc... The TA quality the tone the feel is amazing, if you get the chance try one out. i have owned an early grand am in all maple, solid drop tops with floyds always basswood with maple tops, and solid hardtail Cobra (which is a wicked lespaul sound with strat and tele sounds as well) models. Every time I go to the local music store my buddy that works there asks me to bring my Cobra and he swears that it makes any amp in the store sound great where other guitars sound like SH!+ through them. The body wood, the pickups all account for the sound with your amp and your hands. It's all what you hear in your head, that makes this quest so great! Maybe I'll try a Suhr Standard next...

Shred, Anderson installed a Kahler trem in the early to mid 90's that is a floyd rose copy and it has a locking thing to stop the trem from moving from center. I think Kahler called it the autolatch??? I had a Fender HRR Strat with one installed in works pretty good but setting it up was pain in the ass!
