Nice, and if you cant tell mine is a Mojo reference as well.Thats how I heard about Splawn!!My settings are real close to yours and I do run a maxon od808 when I use my Peavey HP special and I am starting to like it with my Les Paul(I hate the pickups in my Les Paul),but I dont run the pedal with eclipse that has EMG`s.The od if used right actually adds to the sound and doesnt take anything away,IMO.

darren, i play the nitro in both standard and drop tunings. sounds awesome in both. my clips on the splawn site are done in standard tuning with the low e string dropped to d. so that's basically standard tuning

winsden..yeah ive heard them mate and they sound great..very tight indeed..thats the only dropped playing i do sometimes is the bottom E.. 95% of the time im in standard tuning.. in your clips i dont think the amp sounds loose or saggy at all..its very tight as i said and very articulate.. you can certainly hear all that splawn tone coming through.

darren, the nitro is not by any means a loose amp. it's "looser" than the QR but that's a super tight amp to begin with. the nitro is very tight, it's just got a bit more sag and saturation than the QR.

no i know..its just someone said a little earlier thats its much looser..i think your tunes are a great example of just how tight the amp is..

Southern Born Killers............Nice! I'm not a huge fan of their new rapper dude. I liked Boz better. I mostly listen to them due to The Duke's riffage. His tone has greatly improved using Splawn. I feel like we are hijacking this thread..........Back to Quickrod and Nitro comparisson. Darcooper, my gut instinct tells me you would be better served with a Quickrod based on your musical tastes and style. I haven't been able to A/B them both, but I can tell you that my recordings with the Quckrod sound nothing like the ones I'm working on now using the Nitro. The Nitro is a beast! It is a modern voiced amp. If I'm thinking correctly you mentioned Reb Beach. Isn't he the dude from Winger? If I were to play or cover a Winger song (dude I'd shoot myself first) I would choose the Quickrod. It would do the 80's-90's stuff better IMHO. Of course I have chosen the Nitro, but I play modern chugga percussive stuff. Just warning you bro the Nitro is a modern metal amp. I think Splatter got rid of his due to it being too modern correct? maybe not I dunno. I can say this you will have a great amp either way you go.

I'm currently werkin on them. I play all of the instruments live (drums, bass, gits, etc). It takes me longer since I'm not a great drummer. I have looked into drum programs, but I prefer live drums. Stay tuned...........I 'll have pics and clips very soon for you fellerz. If those are the bands you like then the Nitro is going to blow you away. I'm actually tracking demos for vocalist auditions (new project) so it may be a while. Unfortunantly I have a family to take care of, so work comes first. I'll tell you this though. It has been a looooong time since I have been excited to record with a new amp. I'm usually like bleh same ol same ol. The Nitro absolutely killz!

The Nitro is next on my wish list. I love my QuickRod, but Splawn amps are like McNaught guitars and Lays potato chips. . .you can't have just one!

hi snappinecks.. no i dont play in a winger covers band..but i do cover alot of ground with the stuff i do. reb beach is currently in whitesnake.. i mentioned his name as i used to own a custom audio amp and didint like it..but he uses them live and in the studio.. for me its not about how heavy it plays etc..its the tone.. i used to own an engl powerball and to be honest i loved it.i spent most of my time on channel 3..then i had an engl special edition..also loved that.. so im used to modern voiced amps.. i do everything from ac/dc to black label society...im also a huge wylde fan.. so i think the nitro will suit my needs very well.. its not all about the 80's stuff with me...i do cover alot of ground.. as i said the engl's i had i loved and they handled everything with ease...so thats why i decided on the nitro.. i do appreciate your input bro as i do with everyones..i think ill be happy with it.. not being able to demo it first SUCKS..but there are no splawn dealers here in the uk.. the only amp ive owned and never liked was the DUAL RECTUMFRIER..well thats what i like to call it!! overpriced tin can i thought.. but i do know with the splawn im getting a well made well toned amp!!

darrcooper....if your a big zakk fan, then why arent you using marshall? just curious? i have a jvm, its weird one day i hate it and the next i love it? still tweakin it and all my solos in the studio were done on it,instead of the herbert and mesa.just somethin about it when you hit it with a wah............still waitn on da NITRO

hey crabby.. yeah..ive also owned the jvm..had it the day it came out over here.. i loved the med gained tones for blues and classic rock..but also found that i was tweaking the hell out of the higher ones.. the clean i thought was ok for a marshall..but overall the jvm didnt really do it for me.. ive not tried the vintage modern either.. probably the best amp ive owned and heard so far is the engl special edition (6L6) version.. the diezel gear ive not tried..although from what ive heard of the herbert it sounds excellent.. are you a big modern metal fan? or do you cover quite alot of ground?

for me,i want to stay as far from 80's tone as i can,now early 90's to me started to change tone wise, skid row slave to the grind. there should be a law on how much reverb and delay can be used, like a breathalizer we need a reverbalizer test.ha ha early 90s for tone? ...come on bro............
