Good to know. I remember when I had my JVM, the Cathode follower tube (V3 in that amp) needed a tube that could handle a higher voltage. I kept blowing out the tube and couldn’t figure out why....then, internet. Lol FWIW, the TAD brand can handle the higher voltage. There are some other brands too that I can’t remember right now.

Exactly, that's it... cathode follower amps are the culprits. I don't know if Splawns are cathode follower or not, I don't think so. I saw a blurb about that buried somewhere deep in the forums!

No, they aren’t. I specifically asked Scott about that. No cathode follower in his design.

I did a quick down and very dirty video trying to show this treble on "0" thing but I'm not sure where to upload it. imgur and soundcloud didn't work (sound wise) and dropbox and photofooket are broke for me as is youtube.
Any other good sites for uploading quick vids?

I'd really like to see them, see what this zero treble mojo is all about!

Well I got my fresh Sino 12ax7's.... after the recommendation here and talking to the guy who turned me on to Splawn in the first place, and I have to say y'all were right.... It sounds fantastic. I think its also worth mentioning that I'm very much enjoying the gain down around 830 and hitting the front of the amp with a Keeley Red Dirt when I need a little more gain. set up like this I can get the low gain tones I need and can hit the stomp and it instantly is in Dokken territory. Thanks for the info gents. Now I can get back to what I really need to be doing..(Getting better) Haha.

What gear are you using? Just wondering, 8:30 is pretty low for the gain but if it's working for you it's all good.

New Sino 12ax7 from tube depot.
I did think that was awfully low but much higher and it gets too be way too much gain for me. And I like plenty of gain. I couldn’t get it out of ultra high gain with the gain up anywhere near noon no matter what gear or od1.... Thats with my stock Les Paul, stock SG and Stock PRS Tremonti

QR into A cab loaded with x pattern of mojotone watch tower speakers and 2 ET-65's. 2 of my Lesters a 16 trad and 78 Std have mojotone 59 clone humbuckers, my 80 standard has vineham sweet V 59's, and my SG has a Duncan sh-16 and a Gibson 57 in the neck. Pretty simple rig I run into a cry baby into a ce-2 chorus and a boss tuner. I was running a Nova system, but had some hissing issues and took it out of the chain for now. With the guitar half way down about 117db on the meter and good to go... I do however run 300k linear taper pots on the treble volume I like the way it rolls down the volume, on my necks I runn 300k audio tapers with a small treble bleed for cleaning up.
