I have a JVM 210h for sale on eBay/reverb. I guy from my neighborhood contacted me and asked if I would be interested in a trade. My JVM for his JCM 800 4212...212 combo. I already have a 2204 that I LOVE....so depending on the condition of the 4212, this is a no brainier....right?
I probably should say that I was originally selling the JVM because I need the money, I have a QR on order and we all know the price on those...and I bought it on credit...lol.
But damn,I just can't pass on an 800. I mean, they are the ultimate rock machine...
What do you guys think?

I'm not a fan of combos and I'm not particularly fond of the JVMs so I don't think I can help much LOL Having 2 - JCM800s and a Quick Rod seems a bit redundant to me so I'd be looking at other amps (like a Mesa or something) to give me different feels (if money is really not an object).

I'm generally not a fan of combos either but some you tube clips I've watched sounded pretty good. I'm not a big fan of mesa's either. I think rhythmically they sound great but single notes seem to lose their girth when soloing, at least to me.
The JVM is certainly not Marshall's shining moment in amps, that's for sure.
The guy also said he had an Orange rocker verb 50 he wanted to trade too... So there's that.

I would not do it. I'd sell the amp and have that money. Once you get you quickrod all the other Marshall amps are just going to sit there, or at least that's what happened to me. That's just me.

I just sold a Voodoo modded JCM800 2204, simply bcs it sat around for two years. Pretty much every amp that I've had I sold with the exception of my Friedman, bcs of my Splawn.
Your still wait in your Splawn right?

Yeah, Scott told me if everything worked out he was supposed to ship it almost 2 weeks ago( the end of this week will be 2 weeks ago).
Maybe if I had it now I wouldn't be thinking of a Marshall...lol

I've got a Marshall 1936 with celestion g12t-75. I also have a 4x12 with the same speakers but it's just too damn big and heavy. I've been looking into maybe getting another 2x12 and trying that setup out.

I'd spend your money on different speakers/cabs. Maybe get 2 different speakers for the 4x12 and put them in an X pattern. V30s, K100s, etc. Definitely get a Splawn 2x12 with Small Blocks and thank me later.

lol....I'm looking at the splawns...also a local guy is selling an avatar with private jack speakers(50 watters). I don't know anything about those speakers, but I suppose they can always be changed out too. What are you using for a cab? I was digging your tone on your recent clip...plenty of mids and a good low end.

Just realized that you already told me you play an Emperor cab...

TheFight has the Emperor cab. I have a Splawn 2x12 with Smallblocks and Traditional Recto cab with V30s. I 'believe' the Private Jacks are Eminence's take on the Vintage 30. If that is true, be careful because some have complained in the past that the V30s had too many mids to an already mid-heavy amp. Avatar's are great though - I had one at one point. WindsenPan has some great speaker comparisons up with Splawns. Some are on this site and also on youtube.

Yeah, I did listen to some of the speaker comparisons...that's a great reference clip. I've been interested in the higher wattage greenback celestion...I forget the model and I've heard good things about the 65W cream backs too.
