Never understand when people tell me Splawns are 80s metal amps. Noooo, they are just great amps built out of the Marshall camp.

Some of my favorite tones are modded Marshall tones that Billy Howerdell of A Perfect Circle uses. I am also a big Adam Jones of Tool fan and Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains and also Dean DelLeo of STP. So my cover band plays 90s rock and grunge so that worried me about buying a Splawn but one of my favorite players, Mike McCready uses Marshalls and Orange amps and the Splawn SR should fit right in there. As far as new bands, I am a big indy rock fan now and I love bands like Silversun pickups and Manchester Orchestra. A lot of these bands use Orange amps.....but I think the amp is just a tool.....it is how I use it. I hate 80s metal and yet all my amps are Marshall style amps. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpqb3i9Ntl8&feature=related

I play in a 90s cover band - think of the typical stuff from the 90s, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, STP, Alice in Chains, Tool, Weezer, Mathew Sweet, Better than Ezra, 3rd Eye Blind, and so on..... Should be plenty thick and organic enough....especially with the closed back cab I am getting with Celestion Creambacks!

Are you trying to talk yourself into something here? You seem like a very indecisive individual.

Got my streetrod a few days ago, been using it for nearly everything, 70's, 80's, 90's etc... no issues to my ears covering all that ground

That's the nice thing about Marshall-esque amps. They cover just about everything.

Marshall or British style amps just DO IT for me, always have. I feel more comfortable on them than with anything! I have to be true to myself. After I get the Streetrod head and my Stage Crafe big diagonal 212 with Celestion Creambacks.....I will be set with amps and cabs maybe for life! Bogner Shiva, PWE Event Horizon and Splawn Streetrod, plus a Stage Craft with Creambacks, a Stone Age with Lynchbacks and a Bogner with V30s should cover me on anything! I can't forget my PRS, Gibson and Fenders should cover any gig from now till I can no longer play! LOL. Only other thing I would like to have is a Telecaster but honestly my PRS in split mode and my American strat cover my single coil tones nicely!

Guys, I believe the thing that got me worried was when a few friends of mine said not to get a Fryette or Splawn since I am in a 90a cover band. He said they are too tight. My one buddy felt it would be too difficult to cover bands like Nirvana, Matthew Sweet, Radio Head and Sound Garden. I disagreed with him, pointing out how many of those bands used Marshall JCM 800s. Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains were big Marshall guys. The Street Rod to me is the perfect 50 watt Marshall killer. Needless ro say, I disagree, and also have to consider this is not the only amp I own. I have a 20th Anniversary Bogner Shiva and PWE Event Horizon and plan on buying a uses Mesa Boogie Rectoverb or Electradyne next year. The Splawn will be added to the collection. Splawns have a sort of reputation as great for shredders and I am far, far from being a shredder. LOL

One thing the kids don't do is sit around procrastinating haha and all this from a very small country town located in the best place in the world, complemented by a Quickrod and a Nitro - It just dosent get any better !
