amen. Put a Ruby Ac5 in v1 of your QR for only $18 and call it a day. Amps are tools to make music. there are guys who grow past the whole tone quest stuff and realize that the amp is just a tool and Id rather spend time making music than making better tools.

Well, if you can't play guitar worth a sh!t sometimes it's easier just to worry about making better tones.

We always listen to the feedback of our loyal customers. Your input is appreciated and is always considered. Customer feedback has been the driving force for us to make the amps better and or more versatile day by day. Thanks to all of you for the continued support. How about a 2 channel amp with one side a Quickrod and the other a Nitro and a global depth control and call it "thrust"? Forget the clean channel...2 hotrod channels! And have the solo with an added gain control. 2 gains and 2 volume knobs! Make the gears control a 3 way dip switch to save room. Most epic amp ever!

Go through all the FJA vids on youtube. Rectifiers, JCMs, Splawns... they all sound like a Peavey when he's done. If you're after that sound then sell your Splawn and you'll have enough for 2 6505's.

you know I consider Splawn a custom boutique amplifier company who are building absolute Tone machines, finally an amp is available that is worth the money you gotta spend these days, I own a Quickrod and I wouldnt change one single thing about it, its absolutely perfect. People may say it needs more saturation, well saturation isnt Tone and a lot of players make that mistake these days, I really believe that a big part of someones tone is within their own hands and the amp is just a tool to get them there, Splawn amps are amazing and Im proud to own and play my quickrod every night im on stage.

I think the problem everyone is having is the lack of upper mids that are much needed for cut and clarity in a live and studio mix. When people (I am guilty also) hear that an amp is more modern sounding or voiced they jump at it with a monstrous cutting tone in mind. What happens is most people that play modern rock/metal don't play in the standard tuning the amp was voiced for. What happens is the tightness and mid bark of that amp that was present in standard tuning is lost due to artists/players tuned down a full step or lower to get a heavy growl out of their tone. Lower tuning also opens the door to have a slight chance to sound a little different even though the same notes exist on the fretboard in different locations. Nothing wrong with standard. I play in it at my church when I lead worship on an occasion (I actually use drop D standard when playing electric). Anyhow the reason amps get modded for the most part from what I have seen recently is to get the proper midrange bark/cut that the amp had in standard back even though they are tuned down. When amp shopping now I look for amps that have very strong mids/upper mids in standard or ones that trusted players say that the amp needed less mid/upper mids. That is an amp that would do well using drop tuning. Make sense? I grew weary of amp disappointments when I knew in the back of my mind that ALL amps are voiced using a guitar in standard tuning. So to answer the question why mod a Nitro? Simple. The owner wanted a different voicing. . I totally agree. While I am awaiting my QR and SB equipped 4x12, I am playing through a Digitech GSP1101 and Carvin ts100 power amp. The amp modeling has been useful in experimenting with different tones over the past couple of months. Our bass player has a thick sound and while I used a lower-mid voicing, I got swallowed up in the mix. Once I started using models with an upper mid emphasis that problem ceased and I could hear and be heard. Just waiting for the day when the tone being heard is Splawn tone

I had a similar idea but my dream amp would be a quick rod modified in the following manner: 1) Keep the clean channel 2) add the resonance control 3) gear three would kick up the bottom end, gain saturation and shift the mids from upper to lower mids. (basically make the Nitro third gear on the quick rod). 4) add bias select to allow easy switching between KT88s and EL34 tubes.

He said he was moving in May. And they do NOT sound like a Peavey, although they don't sound like a Cameron either.

A mode button for the QR foot switch for changing gears (1st to 2nd & 3rd to 2nd) would be nice. It's on the Competition ft sw and is a great option to have. Why isn't it on the QR? Can't you just make a 4 button switch?

I wouldn't want any mod done to change the tone on my Nitro but I would like a foot switchable loop or a mod that would let me select a channel that the loop would be active in.

OMG that Marshall DSL clip is ridiculous.. Why in the hell would you want to fuzz out your amp like that? All these mod guys do is fizz the fck out of perfectly good amps. Why do you need all that gain? That thing is going to cut through a live mix like a Dual Rectifier with the cabinet laying face down. Completely useless for anything other then bedroom wanking.
