OK! Scott called me yesterday and said my Quickrod will ship mon or tues, Irecently saw the clip Scott put up on youtube using the little streetrod combo and I really liked the tone and tight brown stuff that was coming out of the little combo, so I asked him what pup he was using when he recorded that. He said he used the barbque that he uses most of the time, so I ordered one. now my question is should I put it in the les paul or the charvel?

Depends whether you bought the F-Spaced version or not. Yes: Charvel. No: Leslie. It is a fabulous pickup, with the most characterful, interesting mids ever. I always feel like it's the QR of the pickup world. Enjoy.

Forgot I posted this thread, I will be replacing the p-90 neck pup in the "somewhat disapointing chambered bodied" les Paul studio purchased from a chain store [dont want to mentionguitar anycenter names but I am not happy with the guitar at all, I can play them in the store and I guess they just sound totaly different in my 80s hairband decorated man cave where I jam. anyway, the Charvey has jackson pups I think.

Damn, I've been using the JB for quiet sometime now. I want something different. There is way too many people in a shop somewhere hand winding amazing pickups for me to play a JB. I love it, It's a standard in the pickup industry. But is the BBQ work getting if the JB is comprable and similar? I'd rather have the high mids aswell. I play a lot of TOOL type music, so it's real mid heavy.

welp, scott told me once when I was going through the whole JB/BBQ thing...'they just cut different'...JB's brighter...I have one in my Haji Lynch....that was my main guitar/pickup for ages....I used to put the JB in everything..until I got the vominator and fell in love with Duncan Distortions ;D
I had the BBQ for a while...had it in my EBMM for a while...didn't care for it..but I had about four pickups in that guitar and it never sounded good...lol...
if you're playing tool you may dig the BBQ more cause it's thicker in the lower mids than the JB...
then again who knows..pickups are such a pain in the balls..lol...
