For home use, I get a little more life out of strings. Maybe a couple of months. But as soon as I've used a set live, I'll change them as they become dull. As soon as the low E or your particular flavour of low, loses brightness acoustically. It's time for a change.

Angus is talking about the Snake Oil strings, which are specifically sold on their longevity, not regular strings. No idea if they work, just sayin'.

I use 10-52. If I play the same guitar through a four hour show and attempt to use it the next day, sometime in the first set I will break a G or B string. Doesnt matter what guitar I play. So I change strings after every gig. Technique and chemistry play a huge role. I sweat a lot but not toxic, lol. My dad's sweat would destroy guitars, same thing with my oldest son. The youngest must have my chemistry. I cover most of the metal parts with 3 in 1 oil on a tooth brush. Seems to prolong the bridge and make clean up much easier.

Thats a good idea, I should try that. I spray WD-40 into my switch cavity and it seems to help with the sweat.. but I've never found anything to prevent the bridge wear.
I'm the same way though,, I play a 4 hour gig, don't change the strings.. the next day I will guaranteed break one in the 1st set. lol.. during the weeks I rehearse I will break them at rehearsal. I've tried all brands and sizes,, doesn't matter. My technique is not the best for sure.. but I'm heavy handed which doesn't help either.

I used to break strings alot when I used copper picks..remember those fookin' things? would turn your fingers green..lol

Yeah, I wasn't sold on them either. I guess it's cool to have super-strings...but paying $20 or more for a set just plain sucks! I stick with the heavy-bottom, slinky tops and the TNT set by GHS.

1 piece mahogany body. Yes, I actually can tell the difference in sound between a 1 piece and everyone else who uses at least 2 piece bodies. You would not believe how hard it is to find someone who will even make a guitar out of one piece of wood!? Gotta agree on the wood. I had this body made out of one nice slab of mahogany. Nothing else like it.

Me TOO! Every note, every gig, every moment that luscious guitar is in my hands I only wish I made sweet, sweet man-love to Andy Guyton years ago. Thanks to Andy I officially hate all my other guitars. That can be good and bad.. and I'm not someone you see posting alot about GAS... but I have serious GAS for about 3-4 more Guyton axes. Thats Andy though, a few beers and a western omelette at Cracker Barrel in the morning and he'll give you fcking GAS all day long.

I can't believe he took you to Cracker Barrel. I apologize on behalf of the forum.
That maple neck on Craig's new Strat – is it from a very old tree or something? Is that why the grain is so good?
