they weren't routed though...they were raised up for action purposes I beleive you think they have flush floyds?...i'll have to ask the guys over at the charvel board that's how I saw it..unless i'm misunderstanding... take my lynch..it's got a cavity under the floyd...so you can lower it till it sits flush with the body, but you can still pull it up.. the vominator on the other hand has no routed area back by where the fine tuners are..so if you lower it all th eway it sits on top of the body... unless there's a third type I don't know about..lol

Shreder is right on this, you can lower the bridge on those Charvels and they will sit flush on the body...you can also set them to float too if you want. The Charvel at Scott's was set to give you some float but I am sure you can lower it so it sits flush with the body. My BC Rich is the same way and when Vom held up the Charvel when we were looking at it it reminded me of my Rich.

Mike welcome to the boards man. Great meeting you this weekend. It was fun cutting up and hanging with all of you. I love that BC Rich. Those p/ups are killer in that thing. Great playing guitar!!! You should have gotten up and jammed at Chrismac's. What a great weekend that was. Went by way too quickly. I think next year we all need to get shirts made that say "Splawn" on the front and on the back "Got Brisket tacos?"

Besides correct me if I am wrong..Kramer had the deal with FR so Charvel couldn't use them which is why the Kahler. They would offer the Floyd but you only could get it as a special order. So essentially you had strat type guitars that were being hacked up by the Floyd...when you did this there are problems with how the trem sits on the guitar and how you have to set it up to be in tune and intonated with the neck radius and action. So back then you could float it for higher action or rest it on the body for lower action. Vai has stated in interviews that when he had his strat that he turned into the Green Meanie, that the reason he first did the route under the FR was to get the action lower and a by product of that off course was that you could back bend. So that led to the whole recessed FR stuff later on.

Thanks and it was a total pleasure meeting you and sitting and listening to you play. Thanks, it really is a nice, old guitar. I was afraid to bring it because you know it is pink, but Shreder talked me into it. I am glad I did For sure next time I will jam, just alot of great players in the room no need to hear my crappy playing lol Certainly down with the shirt, too funny or maybe a shirt with DC and Bigfoot..Have you seen...? lol
