i think it was also because he was running the loop with the amp volume below 8:30 so it sounded thin and raspy. when the loop is engaged, the amp needs to be turned up.

The gig was actually outdoors ! The loop was set at -10 instead of +4. So I started with the gain at 10 oclock and the volume at 9 oclock. I fiddled and fiddled with the amp like you would not believe but never checked the fx loop .... or even thought too! We use a tremendous sound system. It's way overkill but the soundguy is a wealthy friend of mine who just does it for giggles. I mean we are in a cover band an there are 6 monitors on the floor plus one for the drummer. Overkill. I am forced to play quietly also because the bass player is ......well...... he brings an ampeg svt with an 8x10 cabinet and if I turn up, he turns up.
I never stayed past 9 oclock and we still got shut down by the police. This is why I knew I had to try to volume pedal/loop trick or the Nitro was going to be useless to me. Regardless, with the loop now set at +4 instead of -10 and the volume pedal in the loop plus some sample setting from the board I have a much better ( understatement ) sound.

Shouldnt you be running the loop at -10 for pedals and +4 for rack effects?

Shouldnt you be running the loop at -10 for pedals and +4 for rack effects? a lot of people just go off of what sounds best to them. i think i made an old post way back that incorrectly stated which is intended for which. i think -10 is typically for pedals and +4 is for rack stuff.

Yeah thats what I thought..So shouldnt he be running his rig at -10 because he is using pedals??

Yes,I noticed that if you dont get the volume up when running anything in the loop, that it sounds like playing through a gorilla amp with a blown speaker.
