the ultimate problem I am having is getting " unity gain" in the loop thru my fx loop. My delay pedal has an "fx level" and an " output level." If I run the output level on the delay to low then the tone is squashed. If I run the output to high then the loop adds a volume boost that is certainly what caused my troubles Saturday night. I have to find a balance in the delay settings to not boost the loop. By boosting the loop I had to run the volume low to compensate.
I have been tweaking the delay level for an hour or two and the frustration is setting in. I might borrow my friends Boss DD3 or something else just to see if another pedal might be more friendly in my situation.
+4/-10 has not really changed my loop issue although -10 is correct despite what I wrote on a prior post. Playing without delay is not an option for me so I may need to try some other pedals as well.

I am convinced that my issue is the boost I am getting. How do you like the carbon copy ?

Just buy a DD3 and be done with it. I've never had a prob running mine in the loop.

Im actually off to the local GC to pick up a Carbon Copy or a DD3. I have owned a DD3 a DD20 in the past. I hated the DD20 because it was so damn big. I'm thinking I'll get the DD3 to experiment with. If it has work for Windsen and TJ then I know it will work and not cause the issue I think I am having.
Ah the learning curve !

Update... bought the MXR Carbon Copy AND the DD3 so I could try them both. I have only tried the MXR so far and it solves my loop boosting issue that my TC Vintage delay was causing. So I now have the same volume if the delay is on or off. The output of my old delay was the root of evil here. I am sure it can be tweaked to find a balance but for now I am happy to know that a delay without an output knob is not having the same issue.

Congrats on your new delays.I have the carbon copy in my loop and I love it.I have mine set at -10 and it works great, but you still have to have the volume up slightly to get past the old blown out radio sounds that you get at low volumes.Whats tubes do you have in your Nitro?

I have Tungsol EL34Bs. I'm gonna crank up the Nitro this afternoon when my kids are out for a bit. The Carbon Copy sounds really good. The DD3 is going back to GC .... a little sterile compared to the CC.

Modulation mod.... that's a neat option. Sounds nice playing " Cathedral" which I have been rocking since I picked the Carbon Copy up. I have been using this TC Electronic Vintage delay for almost 3 years. I paid $400 and thought it was just great..... and the CC smokes it big time. Thanks for the recommendation ( again!) Windsen.

coming back from the splawncon i picked up an eventide timefactor pedal...scott had one in his wet/dry rig...man, what great delays in that thing. i don't usually use delay but i think i'll start with this thing...and it's midi capable...i need to figure out the midi part of it though

Maybe you dont understand what I am talking about. The Carbon Copy`s always had a modulation button on them, but they did a mod to the Modulation button. With the older models when you engaged the mudulation button, the effect was very subtle.I will see if I can find the serial number that they started doing the mods on.

I cant find the serial numbers that began the newer CC`s but I did find this.. "open the pedal and remover the sticky plastic cover with the two holes. In the top center you will find R7. If it reads 474, it's a version 1. If it reads 000 it's a version 2."

Edited for sack of looking frustrated ! Carbon Copy solves the boost in the loop issue. Put EB jr volume pedal AFTER delay in the loop and I am now getting the brutal low end that I thought I could not get. Clean boost also sounds great ( Xotic RC Booster and Analogman KOT ).
I am running the resonance between off and 9 oclock and that really brings out the chug I am looking for. I did order an Omnisonic volume control today to maintain a more even volume in the loop.
I have a rehearsal on Thursday and a gig this weekend. The more use the better !
