What do you guys think about the Bogner Uberschall vs. The JVM.
Bogner vs. nitro? Bogner vs. Quickrod? Quickrod vs. Nitro? JVM vs. Quickrod?
What do you guys think about these amps. I'm still leaning towards the JVM and the Uber.

What do you guys think about the Bogner Uberschall vs. The JVM. Bogner vs. nitro? Bogner vs. Quickrod? Quickrod vs. Nitro? JVM vs. Quickrod? What do you guys think about these amps. I'm still leaning towards the JVM and the Uber. The Uber and JVM...again, two different ball games IMO. If you ant to compare and contrast, I would break them down into the Bogner Uberschall and Splawn Nitro on one side and then the Marshall JVM and Splawn QR on the other. No one can tell you what to buy. We all perceive tone differently. What's "thick" to one guy is "middy" to another. What's "massive" to one guy is "boomy" to the next. See where I'm going with this? we're just able to give you personal opinions, and considering the source (you are on a Splawn Fan Forum, after all)...I'd say most of the time you're going to hear the Splawn is the better option. Go post on a Marshall/Bogner forum and they'll tell you the opposite. That's just the way it goes. The questions you need to ask yourself is what do you need out of amp, what can you afford, and what will work best for you in your situation? If money isn't an issue, then you need to really assess what you want out an of amp. I have a buddy that thinks the QR is the best amp he's ever played through...but he won't buy one because he HAS to have a third channel live in his opinion. I have another buddy who doesn't give a crap about a third channel and bought a QR based on the tone alone. There's endless reasons why people buy the amps the they do. My personal opinion, of the amps above I prefer the Splawn QR and the Bogner Uberschall. On that matter, I prefer a Mesa Recto (2 channel) with a boost over the Bogner. Not that I don't like the Nitro, just like the others better for my taste. On the same hand, I think the QR is the best amp I've ever played of it's kind and beats out the JVM hands down in terms of tone. I don't give a fook about the extra options of the JVM, 2 channels is enough for me...but some guys care abotu those things. If you can't try them out before purchasing, all you can do is buy based on what you need and "think" you want and can afford. If it doesn't pan out, sell it and buy something else.

i just made one real quick its the only tool riff i know.. sorry about the noise I used a unsheilded cable it was the only one i could find at the moment. the others are packed away. channel 3 gain on noon. www.youtube.com/v/9dxiyarj2ZoWAAAAY too much gain for that. He uses very little gain on prison sex... or that whole album for that matter. I believe he wasn't even using Diezels back in the Undertow days. I play a LOT of Tool and the Nitro nails that thick lower midrange register that Adam's JCM800's have. Even more importantly, it can really nail the lower gain lower midrange riffs like he exhibits beautifully in Jambi. Watch this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEBJEWsi_DYThat chewy grindy lower midrange register his tone has is EXACTLY where the Nitro thrives. If you want Adam's tone though, just buy one of the old superbass JCM800's (with horizontal inputs...very important) and be done with it. cgi.ebay.com/Marshall-Jcm-800-MK2-Super-Bass-Bass-Series-Tube-Head_W0QQitemZ370100529528QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20081021?IMSfp=TL081021109001r30058

Ok for the chewy tool stuff, check this out. I didn't intentionally record it to demonstrate TOOL stuff but at about 1:00 into this clip, you can hear that lower midrange chewy grindy thing (I have no better words to really describe it :X ) The resonance knob can add more or less of this thickness in that area as well. If I didn't have my boost pedal on, it'd be close enough that if your chops are up to par with Adam's, no one will know the difference. www.drewlankford.com/music/H75_LHDC_highgain_nitro.mp3BTW, that was recorded with a 100 watt scumback H75-LHDC speaker...worth it's weight in gold.

well I wound up with the JVM and I'm very happy. Of course there is a Nitro on ebay for 600$ right now. I got the JVM410h for a grand so I'm not complaning. I played it live in STL last night and man it sounded great. I'm getting a mesa cab to go under it soon, They sound great with them. I'm trying out some splawns in Earth City MO next weekend. Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it. and Fastredpony car Adam uses a 1973 Marshall superbass, not a JCM 800.
Opiate- Just Superbass
Undertow- Superbass only still
AEnima- Marshall superbass, Mesa Dual Recto
Salival- Diezel Vh4, Mesa Recto and Marshall
Lateralus- Two Diezel Vh4's, blue and silver, Marshall superbass, Sunn Beta lead.
10,000 days- Rivera knucklehead tre, Bogner XTC ( not uberschall), Marshall superbass, Diezel vh4, some kind of peavey and another few studio amps.

The early JCM800's had the Suberbass name though so I just have assumed that he played the first gen 800's before they grabbed the 22XX naming.
