I see....
it does sound like a power tube problem to you guys though? I hope to God that that's it...I looked inside the amp and everythign SEEMS ok....not that I would know otherwise..no scoring or burn marks or anything...
there was no smoke when it happened...

Anything is possible with tube amps..I'd say they went themal meaning very bright and the plates inside glow like the element on your stove.. Yeah they are pretty much done. If you have 2 other El 34's kicking around you could try them just make sure they are a pair though and try the half power mode again. I don't have any extra tubes..go figure...lol...

yeah, I emailed him last night about it.. daimmm...sorry about that shred. I'm sure Scott will be able to shed some light on the situation tomorrow if you don't hear from him before then. yeah, I emailed him late and I wouldn't expect him to get back to me on a sunday..he works six days a week..so hopefully he'll be able to calm me down and have a simple fix for me tomorrow

LOL yeah, I knew something was f'ed up as soon as I saw that...man, I shoulda just watched tv last night!! grrrrrrrrrr.... ok, since you mentioned amp techs..in the event that I messed something up, is this something that any decent tech could handle? I know it's handmade and all, but would it HAVE to be sent to scott? warranty issues aside..let's say it wasn't a warrantable problem for instance..

Hard tellin' - scott may know someone he could refer you to just to check things over.
This may have fried some preamp tube(s) too, so be prepared to look into that as well.

Ok, this same thing happened to me and you'll never believe what it was,, The Clean Channel. If your playing at bedroom levels and your clean channel volume is higher then the OD volume you'll get that. However these things are made, theres a channel bleed. I was 5 minutes away from calling Scott, when I turned my clean channel lower than my Od channel and the harsh brittle distortion was gone.
Anytime the clean channel is significantly higher then the Od channel this happens. I could be way off, and I've never even used the effects loop so it could be a totally different issue.

I dunno though..the fact that you could stop traffic with the power tubes leads me to beleive otherwise..I'll try it though..thanks man

i know what you mean about the midiverb...some patches are set so much louder than the other patches...i realized it's the ones that say "chorus:chorus" or "delay:delay"...they have a ":" in the description...
i don't know anything about amps but i'd be surprised if that's what blew your up...i mean...these things are made to be played loud...what do i know though...hope it works out for you shred....
