I haven't flipped the switch yet. I've been running on full power so far. I know on my Mesa Boogie It is a little fuller sounding with all four tubes on. I'll try the half power on the QR and see what happens.

i run mine on full...you'll have to test it out using your gear/ears to see if there's a difference...i kinda noticed one...but not one to lose sleep over..or one that anyone would notice in a club

I run my QR on full power, because I can't hear anymore anyway! LOL.. I can hear a difference the full mod is cleaner clearer with more punch and growl. The half power is alittle warmer or softer attack, it's all personal taste.

Depends on where I'm playing and if I'm mic'ed or not. Big places with a nice PA I'll run half power and run monitors etc usually... a smaller club I'll run full-power and use the stage volume to my advantage (and FULL control heheh).
Both sound fantastic.

Full power...I replaced the tubes in my Quickrod, by the way, with svets...dammit it sounds so much better! I think the transformers were meant for 4 tubes to be burning. Moreover, rocknroll is meant to be loud- mothertruckers, crank those masters.

When I order my Quick Rod, I will probably end up running it on full 100 watts. 50 watts may be warmer in some ways, but it don't have the balls that the 100 watters have!

I don't buy that for a minute. Go back and listen to my last Quick Rod clip - that was at 1/2 power, and I thought it was pretty doggone ballzy.

And if "balls" was meant to be volume or moving air, I can state unequivocally that Scott's amps will rattle your house at 50 watts. Further, I don't even have 3rd gear on mine and it still kills - picture this: QR runs at 50 watts in 2nd gear and easily keeps up with my Triple Rectifier running at 150 watts with the gain dimed (Rec is held back a bit by its loop being active, but still)...it should be illegal.

I had one..anything above maybe 11 o'clock sounded completely and utterly useless when I had it...

My recto is Voodoo Modded. It can be set a myriad of ways and sounds incredible. It also has a 20db gain boost switch which helps when you need ultra grind. The clean channel is fantastic now too - completely clear and void of the "mud" you usually hear about with those amps. BUT, it's a totally different sound compared with the QR - they are their own species, but they blend fantastically in recording situations.
I just wanted to point out above that the QR is much more powerful and full-sounding in 1/2 power mode than most people would think.

It's beyond me too - Trace told me that when they went to NAMM the first time all the Mesa guys kept walking by their booth and whispering to each other but wouldn't talk to any of the Voodoo guys - they know what's going on but don't want to spend the time or money to make their amps what they could be, UNLIKE Mr. Splawn, who puts quality first.
