Bro, I was playing tonight for the first time in A WEEK! I've been working so much lately, no time to play. Well, I played just a tad louder than my usual bedroom volume. Sheet, that sucker just sounds great. Yeah, if I could I might get me a Nitro, but really, the Comp just smokes baby.
I suck, but the Comp doesn't. So articulate, so many harmonics - just Killer all around. Still smells new even.
And the Big Blocks, I think they're starting to come into their own. Still a bit "new" sounding, but in time... in time.

Yeah, I noticed you were dreaming of jumping ship, you no good harlot. Then Loose and me would feel like the only two people in the world with Competitions. Don't leave us Matt!
I know all the buzz is for the Nitro right now. It's the new toy, and everyone's excited. But I seriously could not give up that melted caramel brownsound (1st Gear), rounded bell-like Gary Moore-to-Slash tone (2nd) and all-out shred (3rd). I'd take a Nitro in addition, sure, but not as a replacement.
My Comp has also been abandoned for the last week or so. The mother-in-law came to stay, which means turning the study/studio into her bedroom. I've had internet and Splawn withdrawal! I'll be waking those tubes up today, though.

I love my Comp. Ive always loved a good single channel beast.. I roll the volume back and it cleans up great just like Scotts other amp on the video. Ever since I got the Splawn Commando with BBQ's I cant quit playing. I love my set up. I may eventually get a QR or Nitro but for now Im very pleased with what I have....Im not sure if it is my speakers finally getting broke in or what but it seems everytime I play it sounds better and better..

We love our Comp, I think it was the first, not sure(orange with flames on the front page), still has that first time magic vibe. The way it is built, how massive, is ridiculous. This amp certainly delivers a great tone, in all three gears. We have a Twin reverb to add a clean channel. The most important thing is that the Splawn sounds best as it is. It is a great amp with a superb tone.

Hate my comp... Just kidding. jammer how would you compare your splawn cab to the avatar one? Believe it or not, I haven't done a side-by-side. The 4x12 Avatar I think has some more bottom end, and is "louder" - it's a 4x12 after all. It has Hellatone G12H30s and Hellatone V30s in it. However, I think tonally the Splawn 2x12 lets more of the "Splawn" tone through. Definitely lets the more complex mids shine. I'm liking it. It's the perferct setup for my situation. I need to get around to selling the 4x12, but it's hard to let gear go anytime. But, I do believe that the Avatar is a great bang for the buck. I like it fine. As for jumping ship... nah. The Comp has got tons of gain to spare, sounds great. A Nitro would be cool, but it's not enough of a diff for me to take a bath selling the Comp. The Comp, really, is perfect for my situation much like the 2x12. I really like how it cleans up actually - I don't miss a clean channel at all. You know, you get the new gear bug when it's all the buzz. But, a few days later after really listening to what I've already got going, and I'm over it now. That Nitro is the sh!t for sure, but I cannot leave my 1st true love. I'm soft that way. Also like luigi said, it's built so massive it's ridiculous. I have the Shreder headbox, you look inside and see two fewer tubes - looks so roomy in there, I'd like to shrink myself down and live there like I dream of Jeannie. Could you imagine, cooped up inside your Competition headbox, tubes a glowin... with Barbara Eden... ahh heaven.

50W or 25W? I like 'em both.

I don't really like 25w, it looses the presence and aggressivness and sounds less big, the same happens when I try the volume pedal in the loop trick.

We had a guitar built to match the amp or viceversa, the whole thing is unique, I'll try to post a photo. As for the multiple personalities("Guitars"), "Luigi only so..so with camera....but Luigi try. Capiche?". Bonjorno!
