I practice everyday. I get up at 6:00 a.m. and play from 6:00 to 8:00 and usually run scales or sweeps. I get home and practice another hour or two on Chickin pickin and different chord structures, etc. etc. I just got some new recording gear so I'll post some clips for you guys soon since I can't figure out how to compress this dvd to mpeg?

Are you serious, or is that a joke? It sounds like you are training for the Guitar Olympics or something. All the power to you.

Nah man I'm serious. Since getting married it's really the only schedule that works for me where I feel that I'm on top of what I need to be on top of. I play acoustic gigs during the week and do full band on weekends. I get alot of playing in on a weekly basis

Yeah fortunately "for me" I'm one of those people that gets up at the same time everyday. Never have been able to sleep in. My day's are pretty full between ( in no specific order) work, practicing, training at the gym, wife, playing in a band, etc. etc. etc. I love practicing on chops. Especially the chickin pickin. That style is so cool!

Thats a great schedule TJ. I'm working on altering mine so I can do something like that too with electric chops in the morning and classical at night. Right now I'm playing Classical for about 3-4 hours per night in front of the TV. This is why I keep my wife,, haaha. She lets me do that in front of the TV for hours with her in the room and doesn't care. She says she learned to block it out.

Mine hates it if I do it in front of the t.v. so I just go to the music room. Thank goodness for the line 6 spider. It's a great amp for early morning and late night practicing.

My classical playing is definitely getting better. Recorded this Saturday: hair-metal.com/video/alamande.wmvI lost my damm thumbnail again though s the bass notes got kinda lost,, AHHH. I swear the hardest part is keeping my nails from breaking. I'm like a litle girl with my nail care products.. LOL.. Matt, what you need to do is find somethig, anything that inspires you to want to get better. Doesn;t matter what it is or if anyone else digs it, jst something for yourself that makes you want to improve. Fo me its classical,, maybe for TJ its the chicken-picken,, You do NOT suck. You've got sick chops but you seem to not know what to do with them cause your bored. What is it that really gets you? Theres got to be something.

You've got sick chops but you seem to not know what to do with them cause your bored. What is it that really gets you? Theres got to be something. hmmm...I dunno if I'm bored...lazy maybe...LOL...who knows, maybe I AM bored... thing is, I haven't had someone to feed off of in a loooong time...most of my 'best' stuff (if you can call it that) was when I was jamming with a (ex) friend of mine..both had the same guitar teacher..both liked the same type of music (both big lynch and dimartini fans, yngwie, maiden, megadeth, etc, etc), but we approached things totally different... anywho, we worked well together...and it's not that I don't like or mesh with the guys I'm in the band with right now..I try to add my flairs when I can to each song..I like playing the songs and with the guys and playing out, but the songs aren't always my first choice if ya know what I mean anywho, that's the type of player I've been..always preferred (not NEED) someone to feed off of...great for being creative...been on my own for so long that yeah, I developed a bag of tricks, but I find myself very limited... I do try to branch into other things here and there as I hear them...your latest clip for example..I've been messin' with funky types of stuff with the appropriate tones...always had a blues on steroids attitude goin'... maybe I'm being WAY overcritical of myself (nah, none of us do that, do we? BAHaHaHah), but I find myself pretty limited..whether that's true or not is another story.. not that I'm not happy wtih my playing..there's some things that I'm damn right proud of..my vibrato and attack for one...and I'm relatively clean.. I do admit that bein' in the cover band, playin songs I normally wouldn't even look at much less listen to has opened up alotta doors for me..I can say that I'm better now than I was this time last year... I'm talking in circles aren't i...LOL.. oh, if I had a better damn recording setup, that wouldn't hurt...bein' able to lay down tracks, doin' harmonization over them and whatnot..that would kick arse....but, alas, too much on the horizon..baby, home improvement stuff, paying for damages caught up in the wake of furricane dizzy...lol..
