Probably the hard livin' caught up with Tanya, but doesn't that happen to the best of us? Too bad about Vivian deciding not to be metal anymore, though. He had such fire back in the day - really one of my first guitar heroes - he made me go..."wow". But, I can understand him wanting to not be in the running anymore - being a shredder is tough work. Dio probably no picnic to work with either. Last time I saw them though, Collen sounded fantastic - he has that sugar sweet lead tone - perfect for that style of music.

I loved Vivian's playing on the first 2 Dio albums. Don't talk to strangers is one of my favorite solos of all time. I wish he wouldn't have cried so much about not being as fast as Yngwie back in the day...who the hell was?

However, when I saw Dio back in the day, Wingnut was opening... sheesh that guy was amazing. Anyhoo, Dio comes on and Vivian just had no fire at all - sort of going through the motions. I was really disappointed at the time - but I can understand better now.

Yep, Buck Owens definitely had one. But for some reason I remember Glenn using one too...maybe I'm all fkked up though.

jammer - that's who wingnut is! now I get it. Wow...it really affected him. I probably have the 2 or 3 articles from my old guitar mags where's he's slagging himself about it..kinda crazy.

Yeah, Wingnut. LOL. Don't know where I heard that, but it sort of fits don't it?
Is that new Splawn starting to grown on you yet?

Yeah...but it's hard to tell at bedroom volume. Clean channel rules so far. I got a killer sound out of my junky Squier, I'm gonna have tweak and crank to get the LP where I want it. I'm not too worried...just need to get it down to band practice and wind it up.

I gotta tell you, my LP is super bright. I'm trying another set of pups to mellow it out some. My Jackson is where it's at these days. Fish around on this site, there's some low-volume tips you might try. Mine does fine (for me), but I'm far from a pro. Or perhaps, it's just grown on me, I dunno. I'm playing right now, and my 5 and 3 year olds are fast asleep.
