alright, this is getting a bit out of hand.
a) Noone wants to see Hack leave (or anyone else for that matter)...especially me...but i also can't be policing and telling the majority of people what they can and can't post on a public board because some people are offended by it. I WONDER IF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH RELAXING THE WORD FILTERS 2 DAYS AGO...SEEMS AWFULLY COINCIDENTAL IF IT'S NOT...i mean this joking around has been here since DAY1...and honestly, i think it helps in bonding people together if done properly
b) not getting into religion, but i also don't think it's cool to judge people as sinners if they do post something like that. this board is around to 1) help scott sell some amps 2) create a community around the people who love scott's amps...it's in no way affiliated with scott's personal beliefs no matter how just they may be...and isn't going to bend to one group's beliefs over another's. it's up to the individual to decide what he or she believes in. we're here to discuss equipment and possibly make a friend or 2 online. have you guys been to any of the online boards like harmony central?....those guys take things to a new level.
c) i really don't know what to say about some of the remarks concerning the tolerance of alternative lifestyles on here...that's probably the most offensive thing out of anything.
do i need to put the filters back on?

i deleted that whole thread...except this post from DonaldDemon
I forget sometimes that there a lot of born again and real devout Christians on this board. I try to keep my mouth shut about this because I am on the COMPLETE opposite end of the spectrum. I can see how some things here would be offensive to those who follow the bible though.
The way I look at it, and I know I can’t speak for those with different beliefs, is that nothing said here is malicious or mean spirited, it’s all in jest. I know that some things said are against some’s morals but honestly if no harm is intended and we are all friends here how is it sinful and offensive? This is me trying to be as understanding as possible here. As strong as some believe here about being Christian, I am as strong against it for my own reasons but I try to not discuss that here because it’s a music forum and I don’t want to judge. I don’t even argue with people about it anymore. The way I see it is if you’re living life as a geniuely good person then we don’t need to discuss what our religious beliefs are. That’s just my .02 cents.
It seems that Hacksaw is going through some period of reflection and introspection. I know first hand from all the years I have been here that he is a great guy and always willing to help so I respect him for that.

Wow, dude. What happened? I must have missed something! There definitely were some crappy comments in that thread. I am guessing it got even worse.

Well, I am thrillled that I found Scotts site and his amps. I am a devout Christian also and to find someone like Scott and builds amazing amps is sooo rare in the RNR world. He told me to check out this forum also. I have learned soo much from all the guys on here about tone and amps. One big thing I really loved about this site was because it is sooo different that Harmony Central. I can surf this forum and learn plus not have to worry when my daughter walks by the computer. But the past couple days with the filter off I find myself being cautious whe she walks by just like I had to at HC. Thats what makes this forum sooo good. I do laugh alot at the humor on here but it seemed to be more fun when you had to be more creative coz the filter was on instead of in your face crude. If we leave it like it is ,how long before we turn into a HC type forum? I vote turn it back on.....just my 2 cents

I could deal with the filter being back on if its a problem for some. I don't care either way.

I think the filter forced more creativity. I swear as much/worse than anyone here - I was in the Navy after all. But, I think blatant swearing in a public forum just for the sake of swearing just lacks something. Now, creative swearing - that's another thing. It seems more funny than offensive since it has a ring of silliness and non-seriousness about it. It is difficult to get upset over "yogurt."
That said, I don't think more rules are required. Look over at the SD board, you cannot even discuss the "Five G's" or whatever. I think I'm pretty much done with that place since I've gleaned about all the info I can from there. It was a great board and I learned a ton of stuff, and met some cool folks, but now I just feel old over there. C'mon dude, I'm 41, I think if I want to discuss my creator, rant or rave about my government, talk about hot chiks, I think after the service I've done for my country - I've earned it and don't need to be moderated. On the other hand, I know where the line of offense for most of you is and I try not to cross that line, so I don't require moderation.
I'm a fairly active Christian. I can definitely see how someone might be upset, some of the topics of discussion definitely go against The Word. I know this, understand it, and see the hipocracy of my ways. But, slow change is permanent change I say, I improve a little every day, and any slagging I've done has been in jest. I do think God has a sense of humor and probably laughed about yogurt and the image of TJ dressed as Halford.
People of all walks use this board to gather information on Splawn products. I'd hate to think that someone was turned off from Splawn because of something offensive in the "Competition" board. So, I suppose some self-moderation in the technical boards (everything above the off-topic line) might be a good thing. But, don't make it a rule, just sort of a cultural thing.
I'm done preaching.

I agree with Jammermatt. And I'm sorry if my remarks offended anyone. I have set opinions on some stuff and I realy should not be talkin about them here. Thats all I have to say about this.

here's what it comes down to...i can definitely see how people may not want their kids to see some of these posts...[glow=red,2,300]but can't that be said about anything on the internet[/glow]? ... i know i wouldn't want my niece and nephew asking me some questions about some stuff on here...but we're adults and they're kids...they stay on the kid friendly sites...we can't be censoring ourselves because of that. everyone's situation is different
i also fail to see how posting anything other than "scott's amps are terrible" would keep people from doing business w/ splawn.

For me,I would have no problem with my son seeing the word "Phook" instead of "fook". Now that being said thank god that the boy loves to practice guitar and play video games more than spending time surfing the net. If it ain't broke why fix it?

Geeesh,, what'd I miss? Must have been some crazy sh1t?
My opinion is I don't care whether the filter is on or off.. I don't care what religion anybody is, I don't care if Vom and TJ are gay or not (they totally are) and I certainly am not going to judge anyone based on their own personal beliefs or way of life. If someone brings up politics or religion then they should be prepared to be disagreed with and not worry about being offended. Theres a nice cross-section of Christian conservatives, agnostics, liberal Christians, rednecks, athiests, tree-hugging liberal hippies, and far right wing nuts here to please everyone.

It's like everything else, if I don't like it or don't want to see it I go elsewhere and don't look at it.Plain and simple.
That was a great thread by the way, well the parts about amps and tubes anyway!

Ditto to what Axemane said. If I don't like what I see/read, then I leave for awhile. It's like turning off your t.v. Do it & exercise the power of saying "no".
