Buzz Bin NEW, HIP, AND UNDER THE RADAR BOUTIQUE BAD-ASS Several months ago, a friend called and said, "There's some guy in North Carlona who's building an amp that nails Eddie's brown sound." That "guy" turned out to be Scott Splawn, a boutique amp builder who's particularly talented with Marshall circuits. Splawn's hand-built 100-watt Quick-Rod head is based on several Marshall-style circuits and housed in your choice of Marshall-esque cabinets. But, as I had been advised, it's the amp's ability to uncannily replicate Van Halen's brown sound that has made it, and Splawn, a sensation almost overnight. In a nod to the spirit of hot rodding, the Quick-Rod's three high-gain modes are called "gears." Each has two gain settings, giving the amp a total of six hih-gain modes. First gear is where you'll find the beautifully tight, woody, and three-dimensional approximation of Van Halen's early tone. Second and Third gears progressively add gain and are tuned more for modern metal, but the amp never loses its laserlike focus and precise articulation. Blues-men will also be overwhelmed by the amp's Clean channel: It's stinging attack and cavernous resonance combine for one of the most inspiring tones in its class. From vinatage "Plexi" blues to the hottest modified JCM800 distortion, the solawn Quick-Rod serves up a connoisseur's cornucopia of Marshall-inspired tone.-(Eric Kirkland) From Guitar World August '07 Scott Splawn, Congrats.....I knew it would only be a matter of time. "You are the MAN"........I'm still loving my QR beast!

As long as it doesn't end up becomming: Increased Demand+Faster Production=Lower Quality
Not saying it will, but I've seen it before!

Wolf Hoffman? LMAO.. I mean the guy wrote some cool riffs and was German.. and.. and.. I don't know, did he ever play lead guitar? I saw Udo once when I was a kid. I know you are joking right? He lead work is just as tasty as his riffs! You like classical, take a listen to his solo album "Classical" it something I think you would dig. Tone wise he is all metal! Maybe the best metal tone out there hands down And guess what he is not that well known or sold agazzillion records. If you have not heard much from this guy, then you have missed out. He has classical influ. and it shows

Anyway he says the new cab makes the diffrence. My brother has heard it ,and says it realy rocks. But my brother has not heard my QR either I was thinking about puting all this on video if he does not mind. It all in fun. Its gonna be two diffrent guitar styles going agaist each other too He likes to show off, realy flashy stuff and I play more straight ahead metal riffs. Less on show and more on the sound and feel of the riff. So I think it realy is gonna be about the amps! I mean when we play together in our band years ago he was more or less the lead gtr. It was good fit. Hey but he has not played in about 5 yrs or so and also he is realy stuck on Bluegrass these days If he trys any of that sh1t it might cost him cause nobody in the family cares to much for bluegrass. Not knocking Bluegrass it just a fact in my family

Hell my family is about as hillbilly as they come. No! I can't say that,I've seen some real hillbillys and if you dig bluegrass more power to you. It just would not get you anywhere at my family BQ thats all and he would make a big mistake trying to pull that off , because realy I don't think he has the chops for that ;D
