I have an original 808 TS and if I use it with the Splawn it's dialed in with almost no drive and the volume all the way over. Almost like using it as a clean boost. I always read the magazines and see that Vai is using the DS-1 and blah blah blah. He must be using it as just a boost or something. Putting distortion on top of distortion is just yuk yuk!! in my book. I wonder if he's using that TS for more of a bluesy type thing???

I got mine years ago. I think I paid $50 or less for it. Great sounding pedal and what it does it does well. I have a modded TS-9 from Analogman and to be honest, it sounds almost exactly like the original 808. Vintage gear is just skyrocketing these last few years. I've got some original pre-CBS strats and I am shocked at what they are going for these days!!!!

I didnt have the back panel on that ts808 either! was shocked at what I got out of it! so then I put up my old Roland space echo, almost $600.00 for that one with really worn out tape haha.. amazing! now I have a original boss chorus and other stuff I never use I may try to move. haha.. amazing. we paid $45-.$50 for this and make 10 times selling it.

Yeah I've got an old tube echoplex and all kinds of old Ibanez pedals. PT-Phaser, UE-300, etc. etc. I've got the old ADA MP1 and the ADA microtube power amp, some old fuzz faces, a full Marshal silver jubilee stack, Chandler Tube driver, man the list goes on and on. I had serious GAS for a long time. I can't believe what that stuff is bringing on the market these days. It's just crazy!!!

I have the RI TS-9 and I would like to get it modded by Keeley for true bypass and bass bosst. It sounds great as is though. It doesn't seem to do the Splawn much good but it really brings my Rivera combo to life. I am thinking I need a compressor now to get that Floyd sound on solos. It never ends.

I have a TS-9 RI also and had the bake mod done by RK. It did improve it and is great for bluesy stuff. I bought the Keeley DS-1 a few yrs ago for higher gain but it dosent do it for me.

The keeley compressor makes ALL OTHER compressors look like childrens toys,, trust me. It will do sustain all night long, or can be backed off and used as a clean boost,, meaning like a boost on the clean channel. It makes any clean sound glassier and thicker.. Its a really great pedal with a lot of uses. Its not currently in my live rig, but its a great utility to have around.

It gets great reviews plus it has a blend knob so you can determine how much you want in the mix.
