what do you guys use for a solo boost?
now, i know the QR has a solo boost function, but for some reason when i run my alesis midiverb 4 through the effects loop i can't get the solo boost function to work...probably because of the input/output controls of the midiverb...(actually it does work...but only increases the volume by 2 decibels or so)
so, do any of you guys use anything else....i tried keeley boosts/boss eq pedal/etc. none of them increased the VOLUME of the signal....

I use a Carl Martin Hot drive N boost. I just use the boost side and it will get you over the top of things. However, to me, clean boosts usually add a bit of treble to the tone that I've never been a fan of. I was using my Keeley modded DS-1 the other day with the distortion off, the tone at about 9:00 and the level at about 3:00 and voila!!!! Boosted my signal but kept things nice and fat. Give it a shot with different pedals that you have and see what happens. I used a Fulltone Fat boost last gig and it's a nice boost. I like that it has a tone knob.

I think donaldemon uses an actual volume pedal...not sure if it's a music man or what brand....It hink he puts it right in front of the amp...

I use an EQ pedal in the loop...everything flat except for the output volume. (I boost that about 4db's.) I love the solo button feature and use it whenever I can, but sometimes I'll set my volume, get to the venue and notice that I need to change it. When that happens, all bets are off on the Solo volume...enter EQ pedal.

Vom, I had the same problem with my bogner.. weak boost.. SO... I used to run a earnie ball vol pedal in front on my bogner.. I drilled and tapped threads in the heel side of the pedal. had a metal shop guy across the street tack a nut on the inside for range of Vol adjustment. then inserted allthread with a locknut for a the low volume stop. worked good. just kick it down and was good to go.

I've got a couple old Pharoah Class A boosts... I'd be willing to send 'em off for a test drive, pay if you like or just ship it back. One of them is in an old electrical junction box (not pretty, but kinda cool in a way), the other is in an mxr type box, led is not working though... the ped works for sure.
Reason for such generosity... they are dust collectors. Been using a Banzai New Rising sun II boost(built in preamp, two channels of clean boost can run in series or separate... internal trim adjustments available for amount of gain to 2 boost channels and the preamp.) and I traded a midimate for a Bad Monkey.
Also, recently got an mxr 10 band eq... the banzai "might" be included in the above offer... I'd have to ask to buy upfront on that one though.

couldn't you just set up a channel on the alessis with a higher volume, using the same fx and whatnot and hit that for solos? or don't you have a footpedal for it?

I'm pretty sure ya can....been awhile since I had the midiverb, but I thought each patch had a spot to put the output volume in... or I might be mistaken and it's universal....can't really remember
