Aw c'mon, no I'm definitely not one of those guys that thinks everything after the Beatles sucks, of course not. What I'm saying though is that everythings been done and done to death. If you think the Beatles were a teeny-bopper band, you've never listened to anything then. Pickup Revolver, or Sgt Peppers, or Let it Be,, or even Imagine by John Lennon. Their chord changes and melodies were genius to a fault.
All I'm saying is I'm not hearing anything groundbreaking or new from anyone especially Radiohead or Pumpkins,, so I'd just rather listen to somebody else who plays better.
My personal view is, that the last uncharted territory a musician can take is through improvisation, soloing and individual style. Songwriting is overrated in the sense thats its all been done to death.
Vom mentioned Ratt,, ok song-wise, nothing new there. Musician-wise you can pick DeMartini out of a pack of 1000 guitar players due to his unique style and musicianship. Thats what I'm after.

Tyrone McCartney, Leroy Lennon, John Jellybean Mustafa Mohammed Harrison and Bingo Starr! With their famous #1 album called "Beat the Meatles" It has some of their famous number one hits like these.
"When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me and speaks them words of wisdom, what it be."
"I should have known better with a Bit#h like you"
"Lucy in the sky with alot of jewelery on"
"Here comes my son, he play football, here comes my son and I say..He bad"
"I can play center, I can play forward, I be six foot four"
"Hey dude, lend me a dollar"

Dude it's the funniest thing you'll hear. The guy is actually singing those songs. They used to play it all the time in the a.m. There's a ton of more songs he sings. I just can't remember them at the moment.

Julian got the short end of the stick. Instead Lennon gave most of his attention to Sean who like his Mother has about as much talent as a stick. Fookin Yoko is the anti-Christ.

Your right Nate, but unfortunately thats a by-product of our society moreso than any barometer of musical prowess. I love the Ramones, GREAT SONGS.. Sex Pistols too..
But ironically while books will be written about them for the mainstream you don't hear guys like Vom or me or the countless other guitar players talking about tone, solos, how'd he do that lick, etc, al.. 22 years later like you do with DeMartini, Lynch, Rhoads, VH, SRV.. etc etc etc etc..
