Sorry, I know its a childish thread title,, but seriously I get a rare opportunity to sit down and A/B a Mark Cameron modded JMP-100 with the Aldrich mod against my 2 Quick Rods. This is going to be fun...
I've never heard any good clips of the Camerons, the David Bray mods suck IMO, and we all know what the Splawns sound like, so this is going to be a blast. I'll post my reports Friday morning.

Cool Craig- I'm anxious to see what you think. I kind of agree on the bray mods. I had a Bray 1987 and felt it was a little light on the gain and mushy/flabby on the bottom end.
That being said, I love Aldrich's tone and I know he uses the Camerons a lot.
On another note I played my first gig with my new series QR on Sat. night and it killed. Even with 12" of snow the crowd hung around and I got some nice compliments on my tone. I play in a cover band and anyone that claims the QR isn't versatile is nuts!

Vom, are you trying to insinuate that I'm biased toward the Splawn? LMAO... Hey I'm really looking forward to checking this amp out. I may even buy it. I'll be brutally honest in my review I swear. When am I not brutally honest?? Of course theres no way its going to replace the Quick Rod in my rig,, it doesn't have the channel switching capabilities or versatility, but I want to hear it.

a little light on the gain and mushy/flabby on the bottom end. Yeah that pretty much descibes every clip on Bray's site, "mushy/flabby". PRS describes it as "Crossroads in a box".. so if your into that its probably cool. But Claptons tone is about the opposite end of anything I'm going after.

I have the Whitesnake DVD and his tone is awesome.........a little on the fuzzy side though. Lots and Lots of hissy gain! But Doug makes it sound good!

Aldrich is a monster.. Probably the best live guitar performance I've seen in recent years. I've seen them the past 2 summers.

Aldrich is what I would consider a modern day guitar hero. One of the few. The Whitesnake DVD just rips. My favorite song is Don't Break My Heart again. Its my heavier than the original......and very unique!
