Anyone using the Buzz feiten tuning system? I was wondering how it would sound next to another guitar player in the band that didnt have it. out of tune with each other?

I have been told this and even through my own experience that every guitarist in the band should use the same tuner. I finally convinced my cheap bass player to get the TU2 and now we sound more in tune than when he used his Zoom stompbox ( which I would like to throw out when he is not looking!)

I think if you have a good quality, well intonated guitar the Feiten system is overkill and not really necessary. I've played both and nothing has ever been more correctly intonated and in tune than my old '89 PRS.. and its just the stock PRS locking tuners and graphite nut. The Mansel is also phenomenally intonated by Dave and Dave at McNaught... no complaints here.

Speaking of intonation, my LP is f'ing killing me with the tuning. I have to retune the G every song and it goes way flat! I changed the junky stock tuners to Grovers and had it professionally set up but still no luck. I know this is a common problem with LP's but does anybody have a solution to this? It's my favorite guitar so getting one to replace it is not an option.
geez , I can't type:0

I only use a few wraps with the first one over the hole and the others under. I was always told less is best on the peghead wraps.

cool info guys.. I was thinking about trying the feiten deal.. I am happy with the harmonics and the structure. so I will leave it alone. thanks for the input.
Don, at least 4 wraps if you dont have locking nuts.. thats what i always used on the LP. never had a problem with any strings on it going out all the time. other than strings just worn.
I can always tell when its time to change strings as my 2nd will get loose and chromatic goes way off, usually one week or less.. I change strings once a week, thats about 10 to 15 hours on them.

You guys with LP tuning anomalies may want to try an EARVANA nut it can work wonders on SOME guitars.

I've used this method for as long as I can remember with no problems. Scroll down to the "Vintage Tuners" section. I have no idea how common or uncommon this approach is, but it should solve your problem. www.prsguitars.com/csc/tuners.html

thanks guitargoyle, I don't really see a difference in what I do already though. It looks to be exactly how I wind them.

I bet the string is just catching on the nut. Tune the string (tune UP), bend it a minor 3rd or so and check the tuning. If it is flat, it probably got caught on the nut. Yank it one the other side of the nut and see if it goes back in tune (or close to it). Take it to someone with the tools and knowledge to make it work. Also, I had an earvanna nut on a gibson nighthawk that worked very well.

if its catching on the nut.. might try dry graphite. Worked well for me in the past...
