thanks guitargoyle, I don't really see a difference in what I do already though. It looks to be exactly how I wind them. I figured most people did it that way, but thought I'd throw it out there. Yeah, you must have a sticky nut (so to speak, of course). AG and Hacksaw have some very good advise. Keep us posted on your final solution.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will give them a try. I am almost sure the nut is catching the string. I have gig on Sunday and no time to change strings and mess with it. Is there a quick fix like WD40 on the nut or will that be bad?

You guys with LP tuning anomalies may want to try an EARVANA nut it can work wonders on SOME guitars. Never heard of it. I will check it out. I do remember people saying that the nut needs to be lubricated (yeah i know go ahead...) Sorry I can't resist man,, My nuts do indeed need lubricated.

Anyone using the Buzz feiten tuning system? I was wondering how it would sound next to another guitar player in the band that didnt have it. out of tune with each other? Ahhhrrr, Dredging up old posts. I found this system, similar to Buzz Feiten: www.earvana.com/At one time McNaught guitars came with the Buzz Feiten system. Now??? I am not sure if Mansels do or not. Most likely an option. I think I am going to try the earvana on my next guitar. D

Aaaarg mate, I to a few luthers, they said if I was jammin with other players the tuning will be somewhat off. If I was a solo guitarist in a band, then go for it. that was a local Feiten dealer. dont know if he went to feiten school or not. ??
Aaaaarrrrhhhhh hey I am a junior member now LOL!!

Of course my Tom Anderson Swamp Ash Classic had the Buzz Feiten system on it, was very very nice, extremely well balanced "tempered" tuning, I dont think that you'd actually really notice "too much of" a difference in a live situation with another guitar player without the feiten system. Think about it, playing style will still dictate how well you stay in tune anyways, even a feiten equipped guitar will sound out of tune if you grip it like a baseball bat. It is not a different way to TUNE you guitar, same process as any guitar as far as tuning, the only difference is a change in the location of the nut in reference to the first fret, closer together if im not mistaken. Its basically an overall change in the physical intonation of the guitar. It does have merit, and works wonderfully, but your average joe weekend warrior will probably not get enough of a benefit from it to have his fiddles retrofitted with it, although it is getting very cheap to have done!!!
