Well as a general rule your always safer as you go up in impedance not down. If he's talking about pararalleling a 16 ohm load and 8 ohm load he will be fine. When in doubt measure the pararllel impedance with your DVM and set the imp selector on the amp to the closest match. For a guy who has experienced thick smoke coming from the back of a Marshall head...I'll stick to one cab per...and match it straight up...

Two 16 ohm cabs=8 ohm on the selector Two 8 ohm cabs= 4 ohms on the selector Simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think Craig already explained this earlier, but really it's not that difficult to figure out. Hell , I'd have 4 cabs hooked up if I could get away with it!!!!But I'll stick to 2 for now!

Thats not Cool! did you ever find out what happened? yea, when an output transformer gets REALLY...REALLY...no, REALLY HOT!!! it melts wires and paint and smokes/sparks tubes catch fire...it looks really cool! but the final outcome is...replaced components, transformer(s) and tubes...and your amp smell like smoke for an eterinty!...never found the cause? I suspect an output tube prob but???

Well the modded plexi has Mercury Magnetics transformer and KT-88's.But can still do the "Brown" very well,to my ears at least.I guess it is basically a Pro Mod. It can get very heavy. I like it alot.
The Quick Rod is Just more Marshally for lack of a better term, but they are both very similar.
The solo boost on the plexi has more of a mid hump when you kick it in.Not a bad thing. And no clean channel on the plexi either.
There are small differences , but really they are very similar.I love them both.

You can't do that.Mismatching ohm loads is a no-no.
