Nice. You didn't like the Rivera M-100? I don't think I would ever get rid my M-60 because it can get so many different tones and it does them well.

Nice. You didn't like the Rivera M-100? I don't think I would ever get rid my M-60 because it can get so many different tones and it does them well. Actually, I wish I could get the Rivera and the M/B Mk III back, just so I could play them again and re-evaluate their tone.....listening with fresh ears to determine if I did indeed screw up when I got rid of those amps. Also, I don't recall EVER running the Rivera through any external speaker cabinet. At the time, I don't think I had any seperate cabs to plug it into. In hindsight, that in itself was a huge mistake because its internal speaker was an EVM 12L. I don't know if you're familiar with those or not. If not....it was a monster speaker with a huge magnet and 300 watt RMS power handling. A very nice speaker....the problem (if there was a problem) is that it was very accurate, and in the world of guitar...accuracy can translate to "cold and/or sterile" tone. Although, if I remember correctly, Mesa used those pretty extensively in their early days, so who knows. Maybe someone here can comment on that. So, yes I have some regrets. Especially since you are diggin' your Rivera. Just out of curiosity, what speaker is yours loaded with? Also, I apologize if I "schooled ya" on stuff you already knew.

I just remembered, Al Estrada (on the splawn soundclips page) uses EVM 12L's....so, obviously, he doesn't have a problem with 'em. Regardless, I still should've tried the Rivera with a different speaker.

It is just a big black magnet and no way I can tell what brand but I checked on the Rivera website and they listed the stock speakers in those amps by year. I could definitely use a better speaker though. I think one that has a lower power rating to drive it better. Yeah I know a good dea about Rivera's because I used to swear by them but that is changing now ;D

My first amp was an old heathkit tube thing into a Standel 4x10 cab....since then I have been through almost every amp known to man..From A to Z literally! I'm still waiting on my Quick Rod's and 4x12's but currently biding my time witha Boogie Stiletto Trident through a Boogie wide body 3/4 back 1x12 cab.

How are you liking the Stiletto? The first time I played through one I fell in love and thought it was exactly what I was looking for. Everytime I went back to play them they sounded like crap, kinda like the first one I played was a good production and the rest weren't.
Did you see the new Rivera Knucklehead TKE? It looks sweet and I would love to hear it. Its gotten some great reviews already. If it improves on the KHR I may have to look into it. I was so close to loving that amp but I it just wasn't there for me.

Totally diggin the Stiletto and may keep it in the line up.....ya just have to spend some time with them and I found running a little EQ through the loop and scooping the mids a little (restructure them and not bury them) turns it into a fire breather and I'm pretty sure the clean is going to be better on this than the QR but...still waiting on those 2 and we'll see??
